    3. If all you have is floppies to save to, you'll need to get a program such as WinZip (www.winzip.com) to make the file smaller to fit on your floppy. 1. Clooz password
    2. Just received my copy of Clooz. Unfortunately when I install, it first asks for the serial number [on the back of the jewel case] and then the password. Neither of these things are mentioned anywhere I can find, not on the CD, not on the jewel case, not on my order paperwork and not in the manual. So now the computer thinks Clooz is installed but the icon is not up, nothing I click on will bring up the program and putting the installation CD back in only prompts another request for the elusive password. I have sent two emails to Clooz support with no replies. Should I uninstall the whole thing? Should I send it all back and request a refund? Help!

    3. I have been burned badly by Windows in the past when I made a backup of a file and then discovered (after the program crashed) that my backup was also corrupted. Since that time I have always saved the last two backups. It's possible to back up one's file and then verify that it is not corrupt before deleting the previous backup, but I'm not nearly THAT efficient. Doug

    2. My Clooz databases ( I have two) are in My Documents as are the archived ones with the dates. Any time that I archive, I also copy the archived database to a floppy plus I trash any previous dated archived copies of the same database. That means for each database My Documents has only the original (example: Keren) and the most recent archive (example: 01/23/01Keren). Is this right or does it work differently? Keren

    1. RE: Document number for books
    2. Donald McNeeley
    3. I have not had exactly this problem, but I am using CLOOZ to tracking some research that I am performing. Basically, I wanted to record the information from different references, among them books concerning the research SURNAMES. Since this was a unique project, I just assigned a reference number to the book. This worked fine for the book, but when I wanted to link the SURNAMES to the reference, I found I needed to add each SURNAME to the people list. As I continued my research, I extracted some information from a SOUNDEX file, and realized that if I used the census forms, I would also have to add the individual names. Since this was more than I desired to do, I will be using the correspondence document category, as it seems to fit my needs. Maybe a generic extract document category should be added. Not sure. Anyway, in answer to your question, you could use anything you wanted to, but I would not include the speccific surname. Your reference number should refer to the entire source, not portions of the source. That is what the linking to specific name provides. 3. Hi, I realized I haven't seen this request answered, so I thought I'd describe what my files look like. Every time you archive, a new file is created. It is called the same name as your database, except the date is at the front (today's archive would be "010122filename.mdb"). They are in the same location as the original database. To save it elsewhere (on floppy), you need to copy/paste it using explorer. To use an archived file, you open clooz, but click on the "browse" button (the folder button that's on the first dialog box). Browse to the location of the file, click it, and then select it. If you just double click on the file in explorer, it will open Access (if you have the Access version, anyway), but the result is NOT the familiar clooz setup. Personally, I wouldn't know how to use the files in Access w/o the clooz "packaging". Tina ----- Original Message ----- From: "Clyde M.
