    3. This is a HOAX. That file is the one that lets you use longer file names. Just for your information there is a site to check for viruses to see if they're real or a hoax. http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/hoax.html Just click on this link to go directly to the page. Be sure to check before you send it to all your friends because these things travel like wildfire and really shake people up. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marianne Lindley (Girten)" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2001 10:36 AM Subject: [Clooz] I found this on mine, too. > Please act URGENTLY> > If it finds it, highlight it.

    3. DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A VIRUS!!!!!!!!! THIS IS A SICK HOAX AND THIS FILE IS VITAL TO YOUR COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "This particular email message is a hoax. The file that is mentioned in the hoax, however, Sulfnbk.exe, is a Microsoft Windows utility that is used to restore long file names, and like any .exe file, it can be infected by a virus that targets .exe files. The virus/worm [email protected] can arrive as an attachment named Sulfnbk.exe. The Sulfnbk.exe file used by Windows is located in the C:\Windows\Command folder. If the file is located in any other folder, or arrives as an attachment to a email message, then it is possible that the file is infected. In this case, if a scan with the latest virus definitions and with NAV set to scan all files does not detect the file as being infected, quarantine and submit the file to SARC for analysis by following the instructions in the document How to submit a file to SARC using Scan and Deliver. If you have deleted the Sulfnbk.exe file from the C:\Windows\Command folder and want to know how to restore the file, you should contact your computer manufacturer or Microsoft for assistance. As an alternative, If you are running Windows 98 or Windows Me, see the document How to extract files in Safe Mode under Windows 98 or Windows Millennium." http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/sulfnbk.exe.warning.html Sherry *+*+*+**+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+* On 5/30/01 at 9:36 AM Marianne Lindley \(Girten\) wrote: >Please act URGENTLY. >VIRUS could be in your computer files now, dormant but >will become active >on June 1. >PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS BELOW TO CHECK IF YOU HAVE IT AND TO REMOVE IT >NOW. > >This virus is in circulation via email. This virus is in circulation via email. I looked for it and to my surprise I found it in my computers. follow the directions and remove it from yours TODAY!!!!!!! No Virus software can detect it. It will become active on June 1, 2001. It might be too late by then. It wipes out all files and folders on the hard drive. This virus travels thru E-mail and migrates to the 'C:\windows\command' folder. To find it and get rid of it off of your computer, do the following. > Go to the "START" button. > Go to "FIND" or "SEARCH" > Go to "FILES & FOLDERS" > Make sure the find box is searching the "C:" drive. > Type in; SULFNBK.EXE > Click begin search. > If it finds it, highlight it. > Go to 'File' and delete it. > Close the find Dialog box > Open the Recycle Bin > Find the file and delete it from the Recycle bin try the above again, just to make sure it was removed. > You should be safe. 3. Robert, I hate to say it but the only way you can do that without starting over is to type in the numbers one at a time. However, if you put the TMG number in the PersonID field, you do have the TMG number in your database, it's just in the PersonID field. At 11:53 PM 5/29/01 -0500, Robert V. 3. When I was a newbie learning Clooz I did an import of 6000 names from TMG without changing PersonID to AlternatePersonID. Now I don't have TMG numbers in Clooz for those first 6000. The next time I imported 1000 additional people I did it properly by changing PersonID to AlternatePersonID per the Clooz manual. Does this mean that when you transition Clooz to Visual Basic that I will still be able to read all my Clooz files in Access97 and make my own reports in Access if I wish? 3. Clooz works with Windows 2000 and Windows ME. I haven't seen Access XP and probably won't be making a Clooz version to work with it as Clooz is being transitioned to Visual Basic. It's too hard to keep up with Microsoft's version changes, so there will only be one version of Clooz under Visual Basic. The database you create will still be a Microsoft Access .mdb database. 1. Re: [Clooz] Multiple Database Question
    2. Elizabeth Kelley Kerstens, CGRS, CGL
    3. Clooz does not "want to use a single list of people for all databases." Clooz uses the people that you enter into the database. Create a new database and only import the names you want in there. You'll have to export just the people you want from your genealogy program. 3. I have been using Clooz to enter data from my side of the family and I now want to start to enter data from my wife's side. I would like to have a seperate list of people for her side. I have many more names for her side than mine and I already find it hard to navigate through the 400+ names I have entered from my side. Therefore I would like to keep her names seperate from mine for ease of finding people. However, Clooz seems to want to use a single list of people for all databases. Is there a way to have a list of people that is unique to each database? Thanks Roland

    1. [Clooz] RE:Source ID -- what do you use?
    2. Kathy Bovenschen
    3. I follow the advice of Elizabeth Shown Mills -- author of "Evidence! : Citation & Analysis for the Family Historian" -- regarding LDS and census film references. She recommends using the FHL in Salt Lake City and the National Archives in Washington, D.C., respectively, as the source repositories. I think her reasoning is that those are the central repositories for these kinds of micropublications. If you referenced the specific Family History Center, say, in Cleveland, OH, those who are inexperienced with LDS records might erroneously think that it is only available in Cleveland. Likewise, I view census microfilms at the local university library, but I always list the source repository as the National Archives and use NARA's micropublication and roll #'s because my local university's numbering system will mean very little to someone searching for the same film at their local library. As for source titles and IDs... for FHL films I use the same title as referenced in the micropublication, e.g., "Death Records, Kalkaska county, Michigan, 1881-1904" with a source ID of "Death 0039." For census films, I again follow Ms. Mills' advice and refer to it in a descriptive way, "1880 U.S. census, Michigan, Kalkaska county, Excelsior township" with the source ID as "MI 0067." Yes, there is redundancy of some information in the titles and IDs, but I'd rather be clear about it than confused. My personal opinion is that the source repository (archive, library, etc.) does not need to be referenced in the source ID, but others may disagree. Once I went back through and put living in the death year field, or unknown, the import worked succesfully. Anita

    3. Elise, That's what we do except we give them separate numbers - Death 001 and Death 002. But , we do put two documents in the same sleeve. We use the A, B, etc. suffix when we have several related document - for instance, a letter and its envelope. But whatever works for you is fine - what's important is that you do it consistently the same way.
