This problem was fixed in the patch that's up there now. However, you'll need a different serial number than what you received with version 1.22 on CD. I haven't yet gotten the serial numbers to work together, although I'm working on it. So, if you have version 1.22 and need a different serial number, send me an e-mail at [email protected] Be aware however, that I won't give out new serial numbers to those who have not yet registered. If you purchased Clooz from me, your registered. If you did not, you need to send in your registration card in order to rate the free download. If you have an earlier version of Clooz and need the patch, you'll still need to get a serial number from me as I didn't have serial numbers before version 1.22. Again, you'll need to be registered in order to get a serial number. Find the best deals on the web at AltaVista Shopping! http://www.shopping.altavista.com

    3. Thanks Elizabeth. Since I'm so new to this it's hard to articulate exactly what I am looking for but here goes. If I enter 10 birth certificates each with their own number (BC 001 through BC 010) and some are from the State of California and some are from State of Texas, how can I get a report that just shows Texas? Clicking on Sources on the Hub shows entries for State of Texas over and over again. This source list so far just doesn't do one thing for me so maybe I am doing something wrong. I'm not sure what you mean by all instances of the same source. If your source is linked to more than one document, that will show up on the individual source report. 3. Well, I just joined the Clooz gang so here I am with my first question. Perhaps I’m missing something but if I choose “reports”, “sources”, “select sources” it seems like I should be able to get a report on all instances of the same source but all I get is individual ones. 3. I move between my desk top and lap top all the time. The best way is to archive your file, then copy it to a external disk, then copy it from the disk to your new computer. The archive file will have a date of the archive, you need to remove the date but not the rest of the name. Now on you new computer, you will open clooz, and you will have to tell it where you put your file. It works great. 3. I have a new PC and am trying to export Clooz on my old computer to a disc, then import into my new PC. I've already loaded Clooz onto new computer. I used Legacy to export my genealogy database to Clooz and this was a breeze, but I can't figure out how to move everything from the Clooz on my old system to the new one. I have read the help section but cannot locate how to do this. I am trying to avoid retyping the entire Clooz database. I want to uninstall Clooz from my old computer, but not until I move all the information. Thanks in advance, Margaret

    3. Hi Margaret! It seems to me as if using the archive should do the trick. Just typing in the path to where the archive is stored. I haven't tried this, but I would expect that would be one of the uses for having an archive. Good luck. -kay thesarge At 07:55 PM 8/24/01, you wrote: >I have a new PC and am trying to export Clooz on my old computer to a >disc, then import into my new PC. I would also like to delete a census record but can't. Am I using a procedure that is completely improper ? Dave Flower

    3. As my research is exclusively UK, I find that most of my records pre-1837 are church records--sometimes hundreds of years of them--so I do break them down: PBa XXXX for parish record baptisms PMa XXXX for PR marriages PBu XXXX for PR burials but banns as Bns XXXX because they only occur in parish records and don't have to be differentiated from any other kind. Obits, if I ever found any for my almost exclusively agricultural labourer ancestors, would be classified as Obit XXXX. I think it's very important to look beyond the type of documents you now work with to those you might have to deal with a few years down the line. In other words, where will your research eventually take you and what type of records will you be working with? I think this is reason enough to be as specific as you can with what you have now. 3. I'd like to get the opinions of the group as to the best way to assign numbers to identify documents. For example; Death could be for an obituary, a death cert., book reference, tombstone, letters, etc. How are you classifying these, all as death, D001, D002, or are you breaking them down further. My dilemma is filing. Do you file all items relating to death under "D" or do you file under "O" for obit, or file certificates in a Vital Records book and everything else separate? I thought I'd canvass the group in order to get a variety of options. Thanks for your input, J. GROVES-HURT

    3. I need some help, please- I just printed a 25 page list containing all the census records that I have entered in Clooz todate. Although all Census Personal File #s contain the same number of digits, they don't all print the figure on the farthest right column, making it impossible for me to know which of ten possible filings contains that census. Within the Clooz program as I scroll down the census list of personal file #s, some of those same right column #s show up at least partially and some are totally hidden. Before printing the list, I adjusted the side margins to provide ample room for several more columns, but to no avail. For writing this e-mail, I am using a different font, but the general idea is the same -- some letters take up more space than others. CA, IL, and numerous others printed fine, but not one of my many MA and VA #s included the right most digit. CA-Sa-1870-003 IL-Pi-1870-008 MA-Wo-1870-002 VA-Wy-1850-014 I want to be able to continue filing counties and years together in my binders.
