    1. [CLEAVELAND] Roach / Roche of Cleveland and New York
    2. Hayes Philip L
    3. Greetings... My name is Phil Hayes. I live in Monroe, CT and and am researching my great great great grandmother's family. Her name was Margaret and may have been trained as a Doctor in Dublin back in the early 1800's. We believe they came from Dublin to New York on June 21, 1851 aboard the "Princess" which sailed from Dublin. Their name was most likely Roche, but was Americanized to Roach by most members of the family. I believe that John's family may have kept the Roche spelling. MARGT. Her family then went to New Jersey and then back to Port Chester, NY. Other surnames of the married children include: Flaherty, Booth, Gackstetter and Hickey. Anna Roach (My great great grandmother) also settled in Brooklyn and Married Henry Lewis. The family pretty much stayed in the New York / Westchester area. This branch of the tree is well know to me and include the surnames of Lewis, Hayes, Tierney and Bishop. I believe Patrick and John may have moved onto Cleveland Ohio. We do know that Anna had relatives in Cleveland, but we have not found the concrete evidence linking the two branches of the family. If we are correct with our assumption, Patrick was the Sexton for St. John's Cemetery where he was later buried. In addition to Patrick, many of his siblings are buried there too. Here is the internment report for the Roach / Roche grave at St. Johns in Cleveland: Margaret Roche age 63 4/25/1875 abt 1812 (Believe this is his mother) Patrick Roche age 47 11/15/1882 abt 1835 Clarence Roche age 6 mos 12/27/1891 abt Jun 1891 (Infant son of Andrew) Joseph S. She is one of those mentioned in the above Internment Report. Daughter Mary was with Margaret in Brooklyn in 1870 but we don't know what happened to her after that. I do have some obituaries and death certificates for some of the family members in Cleveland, but nothing yet indicates the link to the New york Roach's. If anybody is related to or know anything about anybody listed here, I would love to hear from you. This has been one branch of our family tree that has has been broken for too long. I'd love t fix it. Thanks. Phil Hayes
