    3. Stephanie, All I have on Allen Cleveland at the present is that he was a farmer and a dentist and also a Primitive Baptist preacher for over 60 years in Henry county. He supposedly was the last of the brothers to die, in 1877. I have a copy of a letter from early 1900s which state that the Clevelands in Henry county were well off, being blacksmiths, farmers, dentists and preachers. I'll see if I have more in my files. There is a family tradition told to me by my grandmother that Amanda and her hired help captured a run-away yankee soldier and turned him in to the yankee lieutenant who wrote her family name down in the sweat band of his hat. When they came through Locust Grove later on the way to the sea, the lieutenant would not allow his troops to burn their farm nor take what food they had left. 3. Jack, Do you have any information on Amanda's brother Allen Cleveland, son of Jacob Cleveland and Martha Rhody Lyons. It is Allen's son Henry Clay Cleveland that I descend from. There is a little mystery about him. My grandmother (Henry Clay Cleveland's granddaughter) used to tell me stories about her grandfather and how he just showed up one day after the Civil War in Rock Mart and met his future wife Elizabeth Betty Scott. Do you know where the Cleveland cemetery in Henry county is located? 2. Hayes Philip L
    3. Greetings... My name is Phil Hayes. I live in Monroe, CT and and am researching my great great great grandmother's family. Her name was Margaret and may have been trained as a Doctor in Dublin back in the early 1800's. We believe they came from Dublin to New York on June 21, 1851 aboard the "Princess" which sailed from Dublin. Their name was most likely Roche, but was Americanized to Roach by most members of the family. I believe that John's family may have kept the Roche spelling. MARGT. Her family then went to New Jersey and then back to Port Chester, NY. Other surnames of the married children include: Flaherty, Booth, Gackstetter and Hickey. Anna Roach (My great great grandmother) also settled in Brooklyn and Married Henry Lewis. The family pretty much stayed in the New York / Westchester area. This branch of the tree is well know to me and include the surnames of Lewis, Hayes, Tierney and Bishop. I believe Patrick and John may have moved onto Cleveland Ohio. We do know that Anna had relatives in Cleveland, but we have not found the concrete evidence linking the two branches of the family. If we are correct with our assumption, Patrick was the Sexton for St. John's Cemetery where he was later buried. In addition to Patrick, many of his siblings are buried there too. Here is the internment report for the Roach / Roche grave at St. Johns in Cleveland: Margaret Roche age 63 4/25/1875 abt 1812 (Believe this is his mother) Patrick Roche age 47 11/15/1882 abt 1835 Clarence Roche age 6 mos 12/27/1891 abt Jun 1891 (Infant son of Andrew) Joseph S. She is one of those mentioned in the above Internment Report. Daughter Mary was with Margaret in Brooklyn in 1870 but we don't know what happened to her after that. I do have some obituaries and death certificates for some of the family members in Cleveland, but nothing yet indicates the link to the New york Roach's. If anybody is related to or know anything about anybody listed here, I would love to hear from you. This has been one branch of our family tree that has has been broken for too long. I'd love t fix it. Thanks. Phil Hayes

    1. [CLEAVELAND] Alexander Cleveland, Jr & Milly Presley
    2. Parish records of Abingdon Parish, Gloucester County, Virginia, have Alexander Cleveland, Jr. christened 25 May 1712. He died testate in Albemarle Count y, Virginia in 1776. According to the Genealogies of the Cleaveland/Cleveland Families compiled by Edmond Janes Cleveland and Horace Gillette Cleveland, and published in 1899, Alexander was married twice, first to Milly Presley, about 1733. She was born circa 1715 and died probably 1744. By Milly he had; James born circa 1734, died 1791 in Loudoun County, Virginia. (called his eldest son in his will, but only received one Shelling sterling. As was the custom in those days in early Virginia, he probably received his share at the time of the second marriage of his father, or when he became of age.) Alexander born circa 1736, died after 1829 in Harrison County, Kentucky. (Not named in the will. Probably had already received his share.) Anica/Anckey born circa 1738, died after 1829 in Amhurst County, Virginia. (Not named in the will, probably had already received her share) John born circa 1740, died after 1829 in Amhurst County, Virginia. (Not named in the will, probably had already received his share) Alexander married second, Margaret Doolittle circa 1748. She was born circa 1727 and died 5 June 1786 in Albemarle County, Virginia. By Margaret he had; Oliver born 1749, died 9 February 1844 in Madison County, Kentucky. (He, as the eldest son of the second marriage inherited the Plantation) Eli born circa 1753, died May 1829 in Fayette County, Kentucky. Elizabeth (Betsy) born 1755, died 4 January 1846 in Madison County, Kentucky. William born 24 December 1757, died 18 June 1842 in Pendleton County, Kentucky. Milly born 1760, died 15 April 1850 in Shelby County, Kentucky. Martha (Patsy) born 1764, died 18 April 1849 in Benton County, Missouri. Grace S.
