Sam lists their 10 children, the 2nd being William R Claypool born Apr 1852 (from 1901 census). Sam's census search has Joseph enumerated as follows: 1850-Grainger, TN; 1860-Benton, AR; 1870-Greene, MO; 1880-Dade, MO and 1900-Cedar, MO. Again, according to Sam, Joseph (1825-1906) was the son of Joseph Claypool(c1770-<1840-who married at least 3 times) and Rebecca Sanders. When she died c1839 in Grainger, TN, her 3 underage children were "bound out, according to the law". Sam lists Joseph Sr. on the following censuses: 1810-Kanawha, VA and 1830-Grainger, TN. Evelyn Bracken et al's work has Joseph(c1770-<1840) as the son of Joseph (1735-1790) who died at Greenbrier, VA (now WV).
