    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: CLARKE, KYLE, PATTERSON Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mBJ.2ACEB/1274 Message Board Post: "The Kansas City Post" (Missouri) Tuesday, January 22, 1907 BLACK EYE IS WORTH $3. A man who receives a black eye at the hand of another has received $3 worth of punishment, according to Police Judge KYLE. R.L. PATTERSON, of 3425 Anderson avenue, was the complaining witness against W. D. CLARKE, a coal dealer of 3804 Independence avenue, charged with disturbing the peace. The men had words over the payment for three tons of coal and, thinking PATTERSON intended to hit him with a rock, CLARKE struck him in the eye with his fist. "You both ought to be fined," said Judge KYLE, "but as PATTERSON seems to have received about $3 worth of punishment, I will fine CLARKE that amount."
