Hi Susan... Thanks for the info... I don't know how the entries are written in "NEHGSR v 8, p 347 Early Records of Boston" regarding dates.... However, if its the "9th day of the 12th month of 1643", then translated into our present calender, that means: 9 Feb 1644........ [Since with the old style calender, Feburary was the last month (12th) of the year and the new year started in the end of March (on the 25th, I think..)] Let me know your thoughts... Joe, The entries are written just as I typed them only with the numbers. Benjamin son of Joseph and Allice Clark borne 9 (12) 1643 You certainly may be right and his birthdate was Feb 9, 1644 based on our calendar today. I looked back through some of the other entries, and they are written in the same way with the middle number in parenthesis. Did they do this to distinguish between the numbers? Have you ever seen it done like this? The volumes come from the 1850s NEHGSR. Susan -- -- Susan C.
