He was probably living in Boston, MA, or one of the Boston suburbs. It's possible he was related to Mary Anna CLARK who was born in Westport, MA, in 1837, to James and Rhoda CLARK. Mary Anna had married John DEXTER who had been born in Killingly, CT, in 1837. I don't know where or when they married, or where they lived for the first 30 years of their marriage, etc. What I do know is that in 1892, at Age 55, they adopted a 3-year-old girl. They re-named the girl .. Mary Anna Clark DEXTER. In 1899, Mrs. Dexter died and Mary Anna reportedly left the Dexter home, possibly going to live in "The Temporary Home" on Chardon St. in Boston, MA. In 1911, when Mary "May" got married, she listed her father as William CLARK. We have no idea who this man was. A good guess is that he was somehow related to Mrs. Dexter, and we wonder if "May" went to live with this CLARK family when Mrs. Dexter died. (We have no idea what happened to John DEXTER after 1899. But, I am now finding out that this DEXTER couple seemed to only live in Melrose, MA, during the few years when they were caring for this little girl (~1890 to 1899) ..)
