Edie, I am not sure whether the Clarkes on this list are any of my family or not. I'm not even sure how to go about researching it. Where do I look to find out? HI Donna, start with yourself and work back to your furthest known ancestor, then maybe the Family Search will help for clues. You should be able to get back to your Grandfather and possible Great Grandfather. If you know there siblings that will help as well. There maybe some one on the list who is just lurking waiting to hear from you. Once you have your furthest ancestor you can hopefully obtain a certificate of birth which will give his parents and so forth. Hopefully someone has done your line. You can also go into the family search and do a All sources search on your furthest known ancestor. What usually comes up is the Ancestral file, IGI, and other sources. There are lots of lists and websites with certin Clarke/Clark families. Just a start. Hi Edie, I do have a relative who has done extensive research on my mom's side (Clarkes) but I guess to do this properly I would have to get my own proof of all info. My relative was stymied by the time he got to father of James Clark, my gr. gr. grandfather. Thinks it was Thomas and Thomas' dad was Richard, but we really don't know as well as we don't know where in PA they came from when they moved down the Cumberland Gap toward NC. There is one unusual name in their line, which is Baptist(e) Clark. Have followed that one as far back as I can with no clues. I guess that's what makes this so interesting. Thanks!
