I spent the day at the Rhode Island Historical Society library and am now more confused than ever. The information I received was this:Ruth Clarke was born Oct.17,1797 and died April 6, 1900. She married George Washington Potter Sept. ,1827 and was the mother of Mary Ann Potter. She was the daughter of Moses Clark and Mary Barber. After reading several Clarke and Barber genealogies, I'm not sure what;'s what or who's who. I found no record of this lineage but did discover that Moses Clarks"s parents who I thougt were Moses Clark and Abby. may be Thomas Clark and abby (Cottrell) Reynolds. Ruth's father may be John Clarke hr mother Priscilla (Head) Brown. There are too many Ruths to go around. Does anyone know who'w who?
