Hello, I'd like to repost my interest in learning the origins of James CLARK/E who was probably born between 1790 and 1800, but I don't know where. In the 1820's, he was living in Little Compton, RI. In 1829, he married a widow, Mrs. Rhoda (MANCHESTER) LAVARE, in Westport, MA, and that is where they lived. They had a daughter born in Westport in ~1837. But, James probably died in the 1840's, as he was not listed in the 1850 Census for Westport, MA, with his wife and teen-age daughter. The first husband of Miss Rhoda MANCHESTER was Epaphroditus LAVARE, and his descendants believe that he was born and raised in VIRGINIA.. and was a Mariner. So, he had migrated from VA to MA and married Rhoda in Westport, MA, in 1819. He died "at sea" in ~1825, I believe.
