Looking for an ASA CLARKE who served in the revolutionary war, and may have been living in or near Watson, Lewis co NY bef 1825... does anyone have him in their data base? He may have been born around 1755, in order to have served. There is reference to this ASA CLARKE in an old diary belonging to his grandson . Would like to find this person and his wife. Asa had a daughter, Mary, born abt 1802 in one of the New England states( one census source has Mary CLARKE born in vermont, another has massachusetts, so ASA and family may have lived in either or both of those states.) Any clues or pointers appreciated. gloria
Gloria, check out Madison CO, NY. I believe I saw Asa Clarke there or perhaps in neighboring Oneida. Good Luck Margaret
Gloria; On further review, I find Asa Clark, Jr. listed in Brookfield TWP, Madison CO, NY 1810 Census: family posted as: 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 . In "Pioneer Settlers of Madison CO.", by Tuttle, the following on page 53: "CLARK, ASA. Died October. 28, 1850 aged 74. Buried at Pratts Hollow. On Cazenovia census 1810." [ I cannot reconcile the Cazenovia / Brookfield discrepancy mrs]. Immediately following the above listing is one for "Clark, Asa B. 1811 - 1885. Wife Nancy B...." This is highly suggestive that Asa B. is the son of Asa first listed above. Margaret Should any of this "fit" your search parameters, please let me know.
