Dennis and Jim, Would you please elaborate more on the names, dates, places of your families in NY and CT. I am trying to connect with some Clarks in those two places and ties to MA and Ontario, Canada. This connection also includes my Clarks known to have lived in CT...Waterbury, and Devon, Milford area, New Haven Co. CT. 1920's on. MA in 1880's (maybe earlier as well); and Ontario, Canada in 1870's; and some born in Scotland before emigrating to either USA or Canada direct before 1870. (May have been in USA or North America around 1857- (59) per 1810 Census. Known names: Alexander Clark, b:ca 1844 Scotland; M: Mary Boyd, b: Oct 1850, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland. They had at least 3 children and maybe more: Mary, b: 10 Oct 1872, Grantham, Lincoln Co. Ontario, Can.; William Alexander Clark, b: Feb 1877, Merritton,Lincoln Co. Ontario, Can.; and John, b: ca 1879, Canada, of Scottish Parentage. This Family emigrated to Attleboro, Bristol Co. MA probably 1879, and appear on 1880 MA Census. Mary Boyds Parents and 4 siblings probably emigrated from Ontario, Can. to Lincoln, Providence Co. RI in 1879 and appeared on RI 1880 Census. (Located near each other.) I have more information on some of these people. Need more on Alexander Clark/Mary Boyd and ancestors. and any other children and death information in MA. I know there was a James Clark and others in Stratford, Fairfield Co. earlier in proabably 1700'1800s. Also, another family of Clarks who were in CT and NY...but do not know too much about them. 1900s. A Stanley Clark and others. ... Thanks Barb Clark Dennis Clark wrote: > Jim, > Where is Big Flats, New York? I am thinking that Big Flats is in the Chemung, Schuyler, or Tioga Counties area of New York State. I have a herd (Clan) of Clark's that lived in these areas. Some would later move westward and some others stayed in the area. My fourth Great Grandfather Elias Clark had two sons named James and Josiah that I have not been able to find much information about their families. I know that one of the sons also went by Elias Jr... Elias Sr. and Elias Jr. are all listed in the 1830 Census as living in Wayne in Steuben County, New York. > Elias Jr. had several sons. Elias Sr. is documented to have lived in Connecticut in his earlier years. I have considerable documentation on this line. I do believe this warrants more discussion.
