    1. [CLARKE] "TO E OR NOT TO E... THAT IS THE QUESTION."
    2. Hello, I'm sorry but I have been sitting back seeing the posts about whether or not someone's family did or did not spell their name with an E on the end or not and it really just may not be the case, regardless which way it is spelled now or for the last 5 generations.......before that they may have spelled it totally differently including CLERKE, etc.. I learned awhile back that it is only within our more contemporary history that people have made a "bigger deal" about the precise way that something is spelled. If you look at some of the older wills sometimes you will see the same name spelled two or three different ways within the same will. My MYRICK lineage is the best example that I can think of. The name began as MEURIG in the 1500's in Wales when King Henry, VIII declared that the Welsh should begin to use surnames and my ancestor, Meurig ap Llewellyn, took his given name of Meurig, that had been used in his family off and on for centuries, and used it as his surname MEURIG. Then with the Anglicization of Wales, the spelling of the name became MEYRICK and then around 1600 as the family went into England some used MERRICK and then when immigrating in the early 1600's to MA, MN, Virginia and Maryland, the name changed again into MYRICK and other variations including MYRICKE, MIRICKE, MIRICK, MIRIK, MIRIX, MYRIX, MYRICKS, MYRICH, MYRICHE, etc.. So, "TO E OR NOT TO E........THAT IS THE QUESTION." However, folks, it is not one to get hung up on. If you do, you may lose the very "TREASURE" of your ancestral heritage that you are searching for. Good luck and God Bless! Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett BandB4951@aol.com
