Jimmy: I do not know who Steve's parents or grandparents are, I was given his name by a Martha Clark from Mississippi. She said that he descended from William. Did not really learn that much from my reunion except that my great uncle James Edward Clark (Jimmy) confirmed my memory about my grandfather, James Anderson Clark, saying that we were kin to the William Clark, Jr. that signed the Texas Declaration of Independence. He did not remember what the kinship was but thought that both Williams were cousins. Martha's husband is kin to a Wilson Lucius Clark who was from Edgefield Dist. of SC, he was born November 2, 1794 and she thinks that maybe our William and he were brothers but like us has not been able to find any information to prove this. This Wilson married a Lavinia Garlington in Amite County, Mississippi, another clue to kinship as some Garlingtons show up in Sabine County and marry into the Clark family there. She also told me that one of Wilsons descendents thought that Wilson's mother was a Paschal before she married Wilson's father, thus another clue as Elijah Clark, a son of William, named one of his sons Paschal. Just a few more areas in which to work. Larry BTW: What book did you borrow? >>> jclark0525@hotmail.com 06/22/01 02:21PM >>> Hi Larry. In May I went to a reunion of the descendants of William Clark in Burkeville, TX. While I was there I borrowed a book that lists several hundred of the descendants of W. Clark and made a copy of it. The index does not list a Steve Clark. Who were his parents, grandparents? If I knew more about him, I might be able to help you. Did he have a middle name? Maybe this book lists him under his middle name. You were going to a Clark family reunion in Silsbee. Did you learn anything there? I am still trying to locate William's parents. I learned from an aunt of mine that a friend of hers is descended from an Elijah Clark who is buried in Sabine Co. I am going to give this lady a call. I think we are related to General Elijah Clark, but I can't prove it yet. There are too many coincidences involving family names, the movement from Edgefield, SC, to Georgia, to Miss, to Texas, etc. Jimmy Clark >From: "Larry Crocker" <lcrocker@jeffersoncountytitle.com> >Reply-To: CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com >To: CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [CLARKE] Looking for Steve Clark of Rockwell, Texas who was a > descendant of William Clark of Sabine County, T >Date: Fri, 22 Jun 2001 09:37:09 -0500 > >Looking for Steve Clark of Rockwell, Texas who was a descendant of William >Clark of Sabine County, Texas. > >Thanks > >Larry > > >==== CLARKE Mailing List ==== >GenConnect ~ Obituary, have one?
