I am hoping there is someone on our list that does research into death records at Prince George's County, Maryland and if so could they help me. My birth father drowned in the Potomac River sometime about nine months before I was born and I cannot locate a record here in Virginia. I have been told he drowned off the cost of Alexandria, Virginia and that would be in Maryland waters. I do not know his first name only that my birth mother listed her name as Ruth Mansfield Clark in birth records of the Alexandria, Virginia Hospital. Since I was born January 27, 1933, his death took place sometime during the nine months prior. I know this is a lot to ask, but I am at my wits end. I have been looking for the last seven years and anything I find out about Ruth leads to dead ends. She had eight other children and with the depression could not keep me. I was not legally adopted so there are no records to try to force open and any one who is still living in the family that I was raised with no nothing, except to confirm her name and that she came and went back to Hoadly, Virginia. I can go to the County Court houses to look for records in Fredericksburg, Manassas, Stafford and Spotsylvania, VA and would be glad to do research in return for help.
