Beth, you took me back there for a moment with the "Laura Clarke" names. My paternal grandfather's first wife was Laura Morgan Clarke. When I checked the dates, I knew better. I should have realized that it's unlikely anyone has exhumed and moved Laura Clarke's body from the farm in Quinton, New Kenty County into Oakwood. If you recorded any other Clarkes from Oakwood, I would love to hear from you. It was my paternal great grandmother, Emily Cooke Shore Watkins who sold the property to the City of Richmond for Oakwood Cemetery, right after the Civil War as I understand it. Space was reserved for the family, and perpetual care was to have been provided. (Buried Oakwood Cemetery Sect. D. Div. S. D. Lot 50, Part 4.) [I don't know if her husband, James Harvey Watkins was buried there, or where he was buried; and I don't know who else might be buried at this section.] I have four Clarkes buried in Oakwood Cemetery in the following section: Oakwood Cemetary, Section D, Division B, Lot 36, Part 2, Richmond, Va They are as follows: Daniel Orion, Charlotte "Lottie Belle (Watkins) Clarke (Emily's daughter & my paternal grandmother); Charles Shore Clarke; and Robert Lee Clarke. The men are Lottie's sons, my uncles. We believe that Orion and Charles may have been married at some point, but we do not know all the details and whether or not they left any descendants. Also, Robert had a long-term "lady friend", but details again are unclear. If there is anyone researching Clarkes for whom these names sound familiar, I would like to hear from you.
