    3. Hello List! This information came to me via another researcher, who knew I was researching the Clark/Clarke name. It appears to be a list of people charged with treason, among them a WILLIAM CLARK. who was living in Chester County, Providence Township, PA. I have taken the liberty of cleaning up the "forward" and omitting the long list of names. Does anyone know who this particular William Clark was and what happened to him? I know nothing more than what you see. Carla Clark Mathews This is a list of "traitors" i.e. British sympathizers or collaborators; the criteria for making the list is unknown, but it was compiled after the winter of the British occupation of Philadelphia. These are the names of those from Chester County,Providence Township, PA. June 17, 1778 The Pennsylvania Packet PENNSYLVANIA.ss A PROCLAMATION. By the SUPREME EXECUTIVE COUNCIL of the Common Wealth of PENNSYLVANIA. WHEREAS the following named persons, late and heretofore inhabitants of this State, that is to say: William Clark,labourer; all now or late of the township of Providence: all now or late of the county of Chester: ... not rendering himself as aforesaid, and abiding the trial aforesaid, shall, from and after the said first day of August next, stand and be attainted of High Treason to al intents and purposes, and shall suffer such pains and penalties, and undergo all such forfeitures as persons attainted of High Treason ought to do. And all the faithful subjects of this state are to take notice of this Proclamation, and govern themselves accordingly. GIVEN, by order of the Council, under the hand of The Honourable GEORGE BRYAN, Esquire, Vice President, and the Seal of the State, at Lancaster, this fifteenth day of June, in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and seventy eight. By order of the Council: GEORGE BRYAN, Vice President. GOD SAVE THE COMMON WEALTH. Attested by order of the Council, T. MATLACK, Secretary.
