    3. I understand where you're coming from, as well as most of us searching for our ancestors. I am glad that when I'm researching my ancestors I looked at different spellings of the surnames as I have found quite a number of ancestors and that is what we are told to do in our research, as Census takers sometimes didn't know how to spell the surname correctly and wrote down how he or she thought it was spelled. Sometimes even the individual didn't know the correct spelling thats the reason we have different spellings of our surnames. My maiden name was spelled without an ending e and sometimes other relatives spelled it with the e at the end.
