The marriage date of Jan. 4, 1801 - does anyone have a source for this marriage record. I have seen it in databases out there but have not been able to locate an actual entry for that marriage. Anar (Anna) was born in Litchfield Co., Connecticut. And then I have found land entries for her father, Truman Gibbs, in Broome Co., NY. And.. it appears from other information that they were in Broome Co., NY when they decided to move to Ohio. And.. Alvin Clark, John and Anar's 2nd child indicated that he was born in NY. So.. the best guess would be that they married in New York or Connecticut and then immediately moved to New York. Based on census records, their oldest known child, Orange Clark, would have been born 1795/1801. So the marriage date of Jan. 1801 would certainly be logical. 2. So far I have not been able to check the 1850 census for Oxford Illinois. I believe it is in Henry Co., Illinois. So I have not been able to see what John indicates as his birth place. However, Samuel Clark - in the 1880 census of Jack Co., Texas - indicates that his father was born in NY. 3. I notice that you indicate that John Clark was pastorate of the Baptist Church at Oxford, IL, and indicate a source as church records.. I would love to try to access some of those church records. Could you by any chance tell me where they are. Would try to order on ILL or something. Thanks and take care and see next message - Emma
