All of my family that I have been able to identify is without the E. If I may suggest to Joe, that if possible, much of this confusion would go away if a list using CLARK(E) were developed. It seems more intuitive to me that it would be intended for both spellings. Perhaps all persons attempting to subscribe to either CLARK or CLARKE lists would automatically be subscribed to CLARK(E). Not being familiar with administration of lists, do not know if this is possible. I would be fine with unsubscribing to the CLARK list, but to go to CLARKE alone is not comfortable.
