I'm looking for any info on the following members of the CLARKE family. The 1880 census (thanks John!) for Lawrence, Essex, Mass. lists: William Clarke, 35, born 1845 in Canada (probably Nova Scotia), both his parents born in England and his wife; Elizabeth (?) Clarke, 32, born 1848, in Canada, both her parents born in Canada (probably Nova Scotia - family rumors always said "they" came from Nova Scotia). Mathematically it seems they came to US close to 1872. Their children; Annie B. Clarke, 9 born in Canada (probably Nova Scotia) Harry Clarke, 7, born in Mass. Fredrick Clarke, 5, born in Mass. (my grandfather, born Lawrence June 9, 1875)* Agnes M. Clarke, 3, born in Mass. Eva Clarke, 6 months, born in Mass. (speculation) Olive Clarke - probably next to be born. Never married, Lived in Methuen. *Frederick William Clarke, full name, if it IS him listed above. How many could have been born in 1975 in Lawrence, with 4 siblings matched to names in family pictures? Fred moved to Rhode Island and raised his (my) family in East Greenwich, died at 79 in 1954. I have all that information for anyone else in the clan. The rest of the Clarkes are said to have stayed in the Lawrence-Methuen-Southern NH area. Possible associated family names in that area include: MARSH, ALLARD, BILSON (Billson), BOURNE. Is that page of the 1880 census viewable on the internet anywhere/ Is there any more information on it? For example where they lived or what Wm C might have done for a living? Thanks in advance for any help. -- AFC ======================================================= A F Clarke - East Greenwich RI 02818 -- Potatoheads Rule!! =======================================================
