I am looking for the family of James Clark b. 1805 or 1809 SC. (This is according to the census for1850 and 1870 in Marion Co. GA.) Married twice. 1. Elvina (sp may vary) Surname unkn. B. 1811 SC 2. Mahala Richardson b. 1834 GA. She was the dau. of John and Eliz. Catherine Richardson of Marion Co. GA. The parents were born in SC. On the 1830 Census James was listed with two females under 10 years in his household. Since he did have children of other families (Kidd and Morrow) living in his household in 1850 and 1870 I cannot verify that these children were his. With his second marriage to Mahala Richardson, after the death of Elvina c. 1864, he had 3 children: James, Susan, and Ely (E-Lee). James died at 21 of fever. Susan married late to a Mr. Fincher of Doerun no children, and Ely. He married Ella Mae Griner of Mitchell Co. GA and had 2 children: James Elias and Nora Alzeta. He was a farmer in Marion Co. He came there when the lands opened up for settlement after the Creek Indian War c. 1830 or a few years earlier. I can find no records of this man in SC and very few in GA. Is anyone connected to this Clark family of SC and GA?
