Dear Listers, I saw some comments regarding that most Clark(e) researchers on this list mainly discuss North American families without many requests for English connections. Well I must say that I agree that it would be nice to see more e-mails requesting Clark(e) lines from England. My Clark(e) line immigrated to the US in 1835 from a little village 75 miles north of London called Chatteris. Thomas Clark(e) left Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England with his wife, Sarah, and their children and arrived in New York on August 11, 1835. It is believed that Thomas' brothers John and James left about the same time leaving no immediate family members in Chatteris with the exception of Aunts and Uncles. The family was in Onondaga County, New York in 1840 and then in Van Buren County, Michigan by 1846. And then as they say, the rest is history. By the way, if any of you Clark(e) researchers can get across the pond and even into the county of Cambridgeshire, I would recommend that you become a member of the Cambridgeshire Family History Society even if you can't connect to my family.
