Hi... Here's what I have, supplied by another researcher: (I'll send you her email address in a private email so you can contact her directly since you both share the same line) ----------------------------- Descendants of Samuel Clark: From Hart Family History: Silas Hart, His Ancestors and Descendents: William Lincoln Hart; Alliance, Ohio 1942 Ch. XIII p 57- The paternal grand-father of Prudence Clark was Samuel Clark, who was of large stature, very athletic and of fair complexion. Her paternal grand-mother was Eleanor Violet Dawson Clark. Her maiden name was Violet. She was of Scotch ancestry, small in stature and had dark hair and eyes. She was twice married, her first husband being Nicholas Dawson. To this marriage three children were born. Ex-congressman John L. Dawson is her grand-son. To her second marriage with Samuel Clark four children were born. Eleanor Violet Clark died near New Salisbury on the North Fork of Yelloe Creek and was buried in the old cemetary in the heart of Wellsville, which cemetary has since been removed to Spring Hill Cemetary, over-looking that city and the Ohio River. Samuel Clark died, aged about forty years, on Raccoon River, Pennsylvania, where he is buried. Alexander Clark, the eldest child of Samuel Clark and Eleanor Violet and the father of Prudence Clark Hart, was born at Redstone, Pennsylvania, February 27, 1771. On March 15, 1794 he was married to Ruth Gordon Matthews, who was born at Mill Creek, PA, Jan. 1, 1776. ------------------- I notice you have Littleton and not Dawson as Eleanor Violet's first husband. Could she have been married 3 times? or is the article, above, incorrect? >From Joe ARLT........joearlt@juno.com......CLARK Clearing House...
