Mary Laura Martin in Burlington, IA in 1856, d. 1904 in Lincoln, NE at the home of his daughter, Luella Clark Vandyke or Van Dyke. Children were 1_ Horace M., b. 1857 in Burlington, m. Tilla Larsen; was superintendent of the Geneva Training School for Girls; family moved to Chicago, IL. 2) William A., born after 1857 and before 1869 3) Frederick 4) the Rev. Walter Harlan b. 1869 in Washington, D.C. (my ggrandfather), m. Cora Amelia Cox, children Harlan Virgil b. 1892 (my grandfather), Lois Clark Chastain, Raymond, Esther, LeRoy, Vera, and Robert C b. 1808. 5) Oscar, probably b. between 1869 and 1875 6) Luella m. ? VanDyke, probably the youngest living child 7) Bertha, 1877-1879 Thomas served with the 8th IA infanatry and was a Methodist chaplain to this unit in the Civil War.
