It was probably a virus- check your anti-virus and see if it isn't hiding in quarentine! I have received several viruses as a reply to a genealogical query- usually saying "see my attachment below". Darn- no links to help with the brick walls but a virus instead. Be sure to keep your antivirus up to date!
