    3. Michael, I have been tracking two major branches of old North Carolina Clark families: The patriarch of the first is Samuel Clark who died in Randolph County NC in 1783; the patriarch of the 2nd is William Clark b. ca. 1700 d. 1779-1782 Orange County NC. William had a son James b. ca. 1725 d. 1795-1796 Orange County NC. James had a daughter Sarah Clark who married Thomas Clark b. ca. 1743 York Co PA to the Samuel Clark who died in Randolph Co NC. Thomas and Sarah's relationship as husband and wife is documented by a Bedford County Tennessee deed. Rumor has it that Thomas and Sarah were cousins. Also connected with both families is Baptist Clark. (If you have a Baptist Clark in your line, you are connected to both of these families, but the caveat is that we do not know for certain the nature of Baptist Clark's relationship with either line.) These lines have been tracked into TN, AR, KY, IN and parts west. My specific interest is a branch of the Orange County Clarks who migrated to Kentucky. My husband is also participating in the Clark DNA Project. To date, there have been no matches. Fay Clark The Clarks of Otter Creek and Related Families

    3. Ruth, If you ever do find out that it's the same William Clark, let me know. I've been tracking my Clarks in Madison, Lincoln, Pulaski, Wayne and Clinton counties in Kentucky. There was in Madison/Garrard County a Catherine Clark sister of Elinor Clark, who we think was married to William Clark of the same county. These families arrived in Madison County in 1787 and dating is extremely difficult. Elinor Clark married John Clark. She was born 1750-1764 in Orange Co NC and died 1843 in Rutherford Co TN. John Clark died in Madison County between 1794-1787, and it is believed he was either her cousin or uncle. Her sister Catherine Clark died before 1808. Elinor Clark appears on the Pulaski Co KY 1806-1807 tax lists with my husband's ancestor Thomas Clark b. bef. 1755. Tracing backward, Thomas and his son Samuel are on the Pulaski Co tax lists from 1799 through 1810. In 1798 they are on the Lincoln County tax list (Pulaski was formed from Lincoln in 1799) and in 1796 Thomas and Samuel are together on the Madison County tax list. The Madison County microfilms are very faded and difficult to read, so I have not been able to determine if they were there in 1797. I am certain Thomas is somehow related to John & Elinor Clark and to Catherine Clark and her husband, who may be William Clark. He is not a brother of Catherine or Elinor, but he may have been a brother of John and/or Catherine's husband. Also connected in some way is James Clark b. bef. 1765 m. Leannah Ross in Lincoln Co 10 Jul 1792. I believe I have picked up his trail on the Madison County tax lists. He had two sons--Robert and John, and a daughter Nancy. These three migrated to Illinois after James' death. -------Original Message------- From: CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com Date: 11/25/04 22:49:45 To: CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Clarke-Clark] re: Clarks Hello, Fay. I made a mistake when I said that William, son of Robert and Susannah Clark was a minister. It was the second Wm., son of William Sr. who was a minister. He and his wife and family did live in several counties. The first William, who I am researching is very difficult to locate. 3. Ruth, I have been somewhat following your discussion regarding William, but when you mentioned his wife's name was Catherine, that definitely caught my attention. I think I have missed some details about where in Kentucky William lived and when. If I remember correctly, you said something about him being a minister, and I know there was a William Clark who pastored a church in Russell County fairly early. It had crossed my mind to wonder if that William Clark was connected with the Clarks of Madison County. If your William lived in Madison County and you have proof that his wife's name was Catherine, I know who she was. Please contact me. 1. Clark in Canada?
    2. Hello the list, All my life I have been told about Clark ancestors who emigrated from Yorkshire to Canada. I can remember during the war I used to receive packages of comic books from them - obviously I was very popular as such items were not available at this time in UK. Another story was that the family was connected with the Wrigly Gum company. I was under the inpression that this was a US company and didn't connect the two stories. Last night I was watching a TV program that showed the Wrigly building in Toronto. Could the two stories me connected? If anyone has any information I would be delighted to receive an email God bless John Signup to supanet at https://signup.supanet.com/cgi-bin/signup?_origin=sigwebmail

I have my great-grandfather, but his dad and grandfather are almost blanks except they lived on Prince Edward Island from 1820 on. Obviously there is a problem with such common names. 3. Hello, Nancy and Judy. I am subscribed to this site also, and read Nancy's letter to Judy. I'm very interested because my line comes down from Christopher and Penelope, Micajah and Judith, and Robert and Susannah. Robert's son William P. Clark is my line, and the first of three Williams. I would really like to hear from anyone from any part of this line. I have not been able to verify who the first Wm. was married to. If anyone knows for sure would you let me know, please. I would be very grateful. The first Wm. was apparently born in 1778 in Clark County, Ky. Thank you Ruth (Clark) Dann ruthdann@telusplanet.net
