I also have a Welcome CLARKE in my line (Welcome Arnold Clarke, s/o Henry Clarke and Katherine Pendleton). Henry and Katherine lived in Westerly, RI.. However my Welcome Clarke was supposedly born in Stonington, CT. I show him as moving to Cleveland, Ohio eventually, but I think the traditional routes I have seen repeatedly in my line were either from RI through New Jersey or New York, through PA, to what is now WV and then to Ohio. Are your Welcome and Aaron related, or are they married? I have a Clarke line and a Clark line. Maybe someday I will be able to tear down the brick wall beyond my John Clark, according to the census (according to his son) he was born in New Jersey. John Clark md. Margaret, born in Virginia around 1805. Their only son that I know of is Jesse Clark, b. 1823, probably in (West) Virginia. Margaret's headstone says "wife of John Clark" or I wouldn't know that much. I have never found Jesse, Margaret and John Clark all on one census together. Any suggestions from anyone (solutions are welcome, too) would be greatly appreciated. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Capp255@cs.com> To: <CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 18, 2005 11:56 AM Subject: Re: [Clarke-Clark] JOSEPH & JEMIMA CLARKE/CLARK > My CLARK also came from Providence, Rhode Island. > Welcome CLARK,Aaron CLARK,moved to Utica NY.in the 1770. > > Cheri, this is so strange as these are the right names but wrong > >> date and location for my Great-Aunt Elizabeth Clarke/Clark as she was >> born in Jefferson County N.Y. in 1809 but the family came from >> Providence, Rhode Island. >> >> I think I see where the trouble may be as taking a second look I see >> Joseph first married Elizabeth Eaton their 3rd child was Elizabeth born >> 05 Jan 1778 in R.I. Am curious to know if anyone can identify the parents of the following two women, apparently sisters, who resided in Plymouth, Litchfield Co., CT, before 1835, and after that date moved to Ashtabula Co., Ohio. Julia O. Clark, b. June 30, 1806 [from tombstone], m. 16 May 1828, at Plymouth, CT, Levi P. Blakeslee. She died June 19, 1881, at Plymouth, Ashtabula Co., Ohio. Harriet Clark, b. about 1808, m. March 8, 1838, at Plymouth, Ohio, (as his second wife), Peter Fuller. She died there Feb. 25, 1848. Would appreciate any assistance, as Harriet is my direct ancestor. I have already checked the Barbour Index; apparently their births were not recorded. Ed Godfrey Seattle, Washington
My Great Grandfather Solomon B. Roach married Julia Ann Clark in Henry County Alabama in 1852. Trying to trace parents of Julia Ann. In each census after the marriage her age seems to be a little different. In 1850 census of Henry County Alabama there was a Julia Ann and Mary Clark listed in Smith family home. Think they may have been daughters of the Mother Elizabeth Smith. Would appreciate any information. Thanks Calvin.

Thanks for your reply but names and locations do not match my Joseph and Jemima. They were from R. I. and moved to N.Y.then some went to Ohio. Itasca "Life is a story in volumes three, the past, the present, and yet to be."
Hi Cheri, Did you happen to see and/or write the names of Joseph & Jemima's other children? If so, was there an Alexander Clark, bca: 1844? Also, what was the birthdate of their "first child born?" Thanks Cheri, this is so strange as these are the right names but wrong date and location for my Great-Aunt Elizabeth Clarke/Clark as she was born in Jefferson County N.Y. in 1809 but the family came from Providence, Rhode Island. I think I see where the trouble may be as taking a second look I see Joseph first married Elizabeth Eaton their 3rd child was Elizabeth born 05 Jan 1778 in R.I. After her death he married Jemima Meade in N.Y. Jemima and Joseph's first child was born before 1810. This seems to have some connection after all.
