Joe, Ellen Clark and Henry Bevans according to what I've gathered (and received from other researchers) had many children...from the year after their marriage in 1808 until about 1830. Henry died 1849. So, I don't think the Ellen Clark who married John Widener is the right Ellen. Thanks, Martha
Posted on: Clarke Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Clarke/10275 Surname: CLARK, CONNOR, PITT ------------------------- I am searching for Edwin CLARK who was born in Scotland and married Ann CONNOR who was born in Cork. They had one daughter that I know of, Ann CLARK, who was born in 1831 in Liverpool UK. They were Roman Catholic. Ann CLARK was also known as Mary Ann CLARK (Mary possibly being a Christening or Confirmation name). Ann or Mary Ann CLARK married Thomas PITT and some of their children were born in Ombersley, Worcestershire !!! (Travellers?) Edwin (or he may be known as Edward) was a Sea Captain, based in Liverpool, and when his wife, Ann (CONNOR) died in about 1833 he married again.I have no idea of his birth, death or marriage dates. The information I have is sparse, and I would dearly love to find someone who is researching the same families or any of them. Regards Leith
Martha, I don't know any of James Clarke's siblings. This is why I joined the Clarke list. Maybe someone would be able to help. I have to check my info but I have his birth year as 1798. The obit said his parents came to Ross County, Ohio when James was about 18 months old. I haven't been able to find a death record, will, or even estate papers for a Clarke in that time period. Pam

Catherine, I don't know where James Clarke went to. All I know is the father came to Ross County, Ohio at a young age, lived and died there. I descend through the son Matthew Hamilton Clarke who married Clara Core. There is a story through the family that at some point one of the family moved to California. But I am not sure what generation it would be in. Pam

I think we've talked before. They were my great grandparents. I've been searching for several years and have not been able to find out who their parents were. One man who is related to us thinks that there is a connection with General Elijah Clark of Georgia. He moved from the Carolinas to Georgia. He had a son named John who moved from Georgia to Mississippi. My father always said the Clarks came from Macon, Georgia. I don't know if that was Macon the city, or Macon County. William did of course move from Mississippi to Texas. Do you have any information about Georgia? This month I am going to a family reunion in Newton, Co., Texas, where a lot of Clarks still live. I am going to take everything I have to a cousin of mine who knows more than anyone else about our family's history and see if it checks out with the info. he has. If I learn anything new I'll let you know. Unfortunately, I can't help you with your John Clarke. I am interested in your Lydia Leavitt. My stone wall is Thomas Levitt Clarke, who was a British soldier during the American Revolution. After the War, he returned to America with his wife, Sarah Lyon. They eventually settled in the Williansport area of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The similarity of the Levitt name prompts me to wonder if ther might be a connection. If anything sounds familiar, I would be intersted in hearing from you. You will probably receive a similar request from my cousin, Amy Horgas. Thanks for any help.

I haven't been following the recent 'Joe Arlt (joearlt@juno.com) Juno Termination' as most of the messages seem unrelated to my Clarks' but I thought within the last 24hrs I noticed 'Joe' is female... I always felt warmth and kindness from this person and I can not imagine what has gone 'wrong'! Lauren Rowe
