I just received a Pension Documents Packet from the National Archives.(I applied in Jan. and received this May 15) I sent in the official application, asking for documents on my great grandfather, Wiot H. Clarke a veteran of the Civil War in Kansas. I didn't receive much new info from the records they sent me, than I already had. The documents they sent included the: 'Declaration for Original Pension of Widow-Child or Children under Sixteen years of age surviving', The 'Widow Claim for Pension', and a copy of the original marraige certificate. That will cost $14.75...charged to my credit card. What I'm wondering is, has anyone sent for the upgrade...'Full Pension Application File'? This one costs $ 37.00. I'm wondering if I would have gotten tons more info with a request for that package. I know that Wiot Clarkes family moved to Arkansas and that his widow Jenette Stanbro received pension money there. I was hoping for records of where she lived when she received the pension and if my grandfather , Charles Wiot Clarke had also been able to collect. Thanks, Linda Owen

Here is the website at the RootsWeb Helpdesk with good links to put in your favorites... and the RW take on viruses, trojans, worms. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/announce.html#virus the latest take on these virus, worms, trojans is that you do not need to open them to spread them, just having unopened email in your inbox will do it. **__Even if you have virus protection you need to update the dat files weekly to remain protected__.** Put it in your task scheduler. Many viruses favor Outlook Express, I've switched to EUDORA, a free download from the web, and view on webmail at my server before downloading and anything with an attachment gets deleted there unless I have been told an attachment is coming. There's just too many of you sending me "private" email! Love you all.. but don't like catching the bug! Hello Clark - Clarke cousins! I have had a suggestion from a source that has delt with our delima of having two lists. It has worked for others in the past and I am hoping it will work for us. I have added the CLARKE list to the subscriber list for the CLARK list. What this means is that any postings to the smaller CLARK list will go to the larger, main, CLARKE list. It will no longer be necessary to duplicate postings, post only to the CLARKE list at CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com. The CLARKE list is 164 subscribers larger and is the older list. That is the basis for calling it the main list. Therefore, if you have not yet done so, please subscribe to the CLARKE-L at CLARKE-L-request@rootsweb.com so you will see all postings & responses to a query. If... a big if here... I have done this correctly, postings to the CLARK-L will show to the subscribers of the CLARK list as [CLARK] in the subject line and to the CLARKE list as [CLARKE][CLARK] in the subject line. A posting to the CLARKE list will show [CLARKE]. There are 411 subscribers to CLARKE-L and 187 to CLARKE-D.= 598 There are 285 subscribers to CLARK-L and 149 to CLARK-D. = 434 ----- Hoping I don't have to eat my words later... 164 ooh, hitting send is sometimes so hard to do!!!
