    3. Lori, Thanks. I don't recognize any of these, but am at a loss as to what will find my grandmother. She was Birdie Clark born July 1, 1882 and died April 17, 1909. She married J Hugh Smith on June 26, 1901. I have the marriage license. They married in Union City (Obion County) TN. They lived in or around Hickman, KY (Fulton County) at one time. I am not sure, but may have lived in Union or Webster County. J Hugh (Jahue) came from Trigg County. I don't know where her family came from, but think she had a Sister Ruth May. My mother wrote to an Aunt Ruth and by process of elemination, she had to be Birdie's Sister. I found an old picture of two little girls to my mother and her brother apparently before either of them married and on the back it said Ruth May and Lulah Bell Clark. I don't know the parents or if there are more siblings. I believe Ruth married a Jack Sandman and moved to Portland, Oregon. Just wondering if you or anyone on the list have heard of any of these people? Any help appreciated. Linda ----- Original Message ----- From: "L. 3. My gr. gr. gr. grandfather, Thomas Clarke, supposedly was b. in VA. I think I have some correspondence from you and supposedly Thomas is Richard's son. I don't know from which marriage. I don't have any info, from Thomas on back, but have info on Thomas' son, James Clark (I think by Thomas' first wife). James was my gr. gr. grandfather. He was supposedly b. in NC ca 1780 and moved to KY, then TN then Madison Co., AR, where he died. He m. an Agnes Henderson. I think Thomas' first wife's name was Sarah. Do you have a last name for her? Also, do you know in what cemetery Thomas and first and second wife are buried? I didn't realize Richard was in the shipbuilding business. I would love to know who the first Clarke in America was and where he came from and on what ship. I will gladly share any info I have. Thanks for any help! 1. Re: [CLARKE] Clarks from TN
    2. I'm not sure I have a connection with your Clarks - although I am a Clarke. I noticed that one of the wives was a Milstead. My Great-Great Grandmother was Margaret Elizabeth Milstead, daughter of Mary Hammill and William Milstead. Margaret was born in 1833 in Occoquan Virginia. (which is right outside Fairfax County) She Married William Green Clarke from Prince Georges County. They married in Laurel Maryland in 1855.
