    2. Sue
    3. Sara, There is a publication you need to check, I quote from the following website: http://user.itl.net/~glen/doctors.html "American Doctors __Directory of deceased American physicians, 1804-1929: a genealogical guide to over 149,000 medical practitioners providing brief biographical sketches,__ published in 1993 by the American Medical Association. If you live in California, the libraries at University of California campuses at Davis, Los Angeles (UCLA), San Diego and San Francisco have this set. Also check the very large public libraries." I found the volumes above at a large medical university, and was in the reference section only. It listed my great-grandfather's university, year of graduation, type of license, state licensed and the most important, the year isssue & volume of his published obit in the AMA - 1917. One more source to check out! Sue At 12:23 PM 6/8/01 -0500, you wrote: >Elias Clark, M.D. >born September 19, 1808 >died July 31, 1889 aged 81yrs. >Dr. Clark resided in Cowling, Illinois >(Wabash County) at the time of his death. >He studied and practiced both Allopathic and Eclectic Medicine. 3. Posted on: CLARK Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/c/l/CLARK/queries/10410 Surname: Chambers, Clark, Graham, Weaver, Whittlesey ------------------------- I am looking for information about the forbears of my great-great-grandfather and namesake Dan Clark. According to a Whittlesey family history, he was "born Jan. 15, 1805, on Clark Hill; baptized July 2, 1809, at Farmington; married Mary Whittlesey on Sept. 4, 1827, at New Britain." He died Jan. 29, 1884, at Boone, IA. I am descended from Dan and Mary's son Adrian Ives Clark. Is this Clark Hill a known location? So far I learned this much from a librarian in the Connecticut State Library (History and Genealogy Unit): "There are several Clark Hills listed in Connecticut Place Names (Hartford, CT: Connecticut Historical Society, 1976). The one most likely referring to the area in which you are interested is a place in the city of New Britain. According to Connecticut Place Names this Clark Hill is located 'toward N. corner W. of Stanley Street, crossed by old main road from Farmington to Stanley Quarter. John Clark lived in the No. part of Stanley Quarter, c. 1754' (page 341). Anyone have anything else about this family? What about this John Clark?
