Then visit www.open.gov.uk/gros/groshome.htm there you can search records on line. Really good an efficient, you can even order a copy by credit card. Canny Scots!! Your post caught my eye because of some name similarities. Do you know where your Samuel & Penelope Hovey Clark originated? The patriarch of my Clarks in South Central Kentucky was Samuel Clark, b. ca. 1770 who also had a son by the same name. Another son Jesse b. 1800 had a son who married a Margaret Jane Bell. Both Margaret and her brother William Riley Bell married HONEY siblings. (Margaret was widowed and married John Honey; William married Millie Honey.) Some early records for these Honeys have been transcribed incorrectly to read HOVEY. I do not know what happened to Samuel Clark, Jr., who he married, etc., but these families intermarried so many different ways, I'm wondering if it's possible that your Samuel Clark / Penelope Hovey might be connected in some way. The Honeys, by the way, lived in Fentress County, TN, just over the state line from Wayne/Clinton Counties in KY. Have come to my wits end looking for my Samuel George Clark. Facts are that he was married in Montgomery Co., IN August 1876 to Rebecca Hollowell. This would be my maternal ggrandfather. My grandfather George Samuel Clark was born in 1877. He had a sister Clara Elizabeth Clark born ca Feb 1880 ?. She married V. M. Wilson and moved to Anaconda, Montana before 1904. Samuel or Rebecca did not need signatures, so they were at least 21 and 18 respectively. He died when a tree fell on him when my grandfather was approx. 14 years old. Have not been able to locate any info. on Samuel George or Rebecca. Can anyone help? Sharon honestabe@ccrtc.com
