Thank you many times, Kathy in Colorado ----- Original Message ----- From: <Clarkpdx@aol.com> To: <CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2001 5:35 PM Subject: Re: [CLARKE] Re: CLARKE-D Digest V01 #221 Lainee: Thank you for for the information for getting a list of the Rootsweb lists to which we are subscribed. It worked for me, and I was suprised to find the number of lists I was on. Having Colonial Clarkes which finally became Clarks I have been concerned if I was getting all the posts that were coming through. 3. Hello Clarke / Clark Cousins! I wish to thank those of you that tried to help folks, my keyboard went kaput on Saturday evening and I was sitting here reading the mail unable to find a 24 hour computer store with a keyboard!! I wish to appologize for all the confusion and mayhem on the list over the last two days. The way the lists are linked there is no way to send only to the MODERATED Clark-L what goes to the CLARK-L comes to the CLARKE-L. The CLARK-L has not taken new members for the last two months (or so). The only posts that go to the CLARK-L come from the CLARK board at Ancestry, they in turn, are automatically sent on to the CLARKE-L. Looking at the subject line, when you see: [CLARKE] it comes from the Clarke list or the Boards @ Ancestry. [CLARKE][CLARK] it comes from the Clark Boards @ Ancestry to the CLARKE list. It is true, there are folks on the CLARK list that are not subscribed to the CLARKE-L, the main list, that's what this was all about - getting them where they needed to be - on the CLARKE-L. I had roughly 200 emails yesterday and have wadded through all responding and trying to calm folks who beleive they are going to miss that one connection we are all looking for - you know the "one"! It is also true that folks on the CLARKE-L are subscribed to the CLARK-L and have never unsubscribed from the CLARK-L. This causes them to receive duplicate postings, increasing the volume of mail they receive and have to wade through. Please, take a moment, go to Password Central, look and see if you are on the CLARK-L. If CLARK-L (no e) is on the list, please send an unsubscribe message, I will take care of it for you - yes, you will receive the {not a subscriber} message - you will get this because the list is moderated and the list manager needs to do it manually. 3. To Donald, Trish and anyone else confused about which list they are on: Try this! Go to the RootsWeb homepage, click on Passwords at the top (don't let the word Passwords mislead you as I did), scroll down, put your email in the first box there, scroll a bit further to mailing lists, and put a check beside "To which lists am I subscribed". After that scroll to the bottomand click on email me my info. Within a few minutes you will get an email from Rootsweb listing any and all lists you are on. Then you will know if you need to unsubscribe or stay where you are. I do hope this has helped with some of the confusion, as when I asked almost the same question as Trish, I didn't get a response, because of everything going on with the changeover. So I had to go searching for a way to resolve this for myself. 3. I think the place of birth (Bertha Elizabeth Penrose Dob: November 01, 1873 in Backman County,Iowa) might be Buchanan County, Iowa. I am a lifelong resident of Iowa and fairly familiar with Iowa history, and I do not recall ever hearing or seeing a reference to Backman County. You might want to check this out.
