    2. Ernest Swanson
    3. I'm looking for the ancestors of Thomas, born 1750-1760 and his son, (my gr gr grandfather) Justus Clark, born 7 Jan 1788. He was born in NY, probably Saratoga, and settled in Sullivan County, Ind. And then I found an Abraham Clark (1736-1817) who had a son named Thomas (1753) born in Elizabethtown, Essex, New York. I'm wondering if this Thomas is the same as my Thomas? Thank you for any help you can give me.

    3. Normally, I don't reply to the L, or D versions but answer personally to your e-mail addr. but the Announcement of the Clark-Sorensen Reunion & the Info I included with it worked so well that it bears a bit of bulletin space for Others, interested, to see. Allen T. CLARK writes from Tacoma to inform me that he picked upon the part that read "Jason S. Clark, buried near the Columbia River on the Washington side at HARTLAND, WA, or better known to the Ones Who Lived and Farmed There as HIGH PRAIRIE ! To Answer you Allen, I am shocked to learn that you or anyone else would recognize Hartland, WA aka High Prairie as neither exist anymore, it seems - places out of the Past - but dear places for those who lived there. I will Send a copy of this to the Klickitat Co. WA website which is WAKlick@rootsweb.com which is not very Active, but needs some Input to spunk it up a bit ! We have relatives there, but they need to get computers, LOL! I need to Study the names you gave me a bit as I am not up on all of them that lived at High Prairie. I will get back to you on it. Edith Clark certainly sounds familiar - there were twin Clark girls at High Prairie School - a one Room bldg. - one of twins died young, but Edith Clark lived to be elderly - I was able to meet the descendants of them at the Clark-Sorensen Reunion I wrote of. I am embarrassed that I can't say that I don't really know the Sorensens side of the Reunion famlys. I know them when I see them, but I am not steeped in, or really aware of their history except by peacemeal - the Clark Branches have kept me so busy that I have trouble taking on the Sorensens except they were desc. of the Danish Branch of our Gen. some of in the Danish Lang. and Script. No compreno ! I will sign off as I am doing what I feel should really be done OFF WEBSITE unless it is or Could Be of interest to others reading this. Then, Names, Places, and Dates are essential - but just chit chat without real gen substance isn't in the best Interest of the Readers. I will communicate with you one-to-one, Allen and exchange info with you. Perhaps we can meet personally sometime, since you are not that far away from me. I named our son Tabb Allen Clark, because I liked the name Allen - Little did I know that the Allen/Allyn Line back in CT was among those with whom our Clarks married into, and were Friends of in those very early 1700s-1800s. Later . . . . .and Thanks again Allen for your most Welcomed e-mail to me in Response to my blurb re the Clark-Sorensen Reunion which is tomorrow Sunday but I won't be able to go to it. I forgot to say where it was being held and that is Camas WA near Vancouver, WA at Crown Park, near the Columbia River - the CLARK Stomping Grounds. CLARKS and Indians buried in the same Pioneer Cem. at High Prairie, as they were friends living in the same territory. 2. Carroll H Clark
    3. Sun Jul 15, 2001 is the CLARK - SORENSEN REUNION 1934 - 2001 ! I didn't discover my Clark Line Family that held the Reunions until 1983 when I became interested in Genealogy. It was pure Clues, Determination, and Footwork that brought us together. My branch of our Clark Family, apparently didn't know or didn't attend those Reunions usually held somewhere near the Columbia River in WA. The Story of how I was able to Find them, and Join them is long, so I won't elaborate here, but it was one of those "They Want to Be Found" stories that I cherish among my Gen. Experiences. The Following are Our Line of Clarks, and why we celebrate our Legacy each Year: 1.James CLARK b. Eng. c. 1609; m. 1)__2) wid. Ann WAKEFIELD of New Haven Colony CT. ( NHvn= New Haven, CT) 2. Samuel CLARK b. 1656 CT; m. 1672 NHvn CT Hannah TUTTLE (mat. LANE). 3. Samuel CLARK b. 1673 NHvn; m. 1698 Mary BROWN, resided Southington CT. , (mat. VINCENT). 4. Capt Abraham CLARK b. 1699 CT; m. 1721 Martha TYLER ( mat. LATHROP Line). 5. Rufus CLARK b. 1730 Southington CT; m. Mary NEAL (mat. STRICKLAND of Hartford, CT). 6. Joel CLARK b. 1763 Southington CT; m. Phebe SQUIRE(S) 1784 Southington CT.(mat. EDWARDS) [Note: I have SQUIRE(S) GEN. back to George SQUIRE b. 1618 Peterboro ENG & was in Concord, MA. by 1641; then Fairfield CT by 1644 as a Sergeant in the Trainband there + the SQUIRE Gen. Line, early on. E-Mail for the Squire(s) Line is: RUAsquires@aol.com BROWN GENEALOGY is highly allied to the SQUIRE(S) LINE, also. 7. Archibald CLARK b. Bristol, CT 1794; m. Nancy POPE Ontario Co. NY 1816; Nancy is said to have been b. in CANADA because her parents may have been visiting relative there however the parents are said to have been living in possibly what has become known as "upper State NY". The POPE Gen. goes back via Job POPE 6 (Richard5; Seth4, Lemuel 3, Seth2, Thomas!1,b. circa.Sept 27,1619 ENGland; d. Dartmouth, MA. 1683; Hwf was Sarah Jenney. The Immigrant, Thomas POPE arr. from ENG. aboard the "Mary and John" - he settled at Dorchester, MA 1630. 8. Jason SQUIRE CLARK b. 1819 IN. Switzerland Co.; m. 1838 IN, Decatur Co. Anna MICHAEL (desc. Germ. Palatine Line from Paulus Michael ;possibly Mikel, Michel back before they sailed to Amer. 1700s). It is the CLARK & MICHAEL Lines that we gather with our SORENSEN FAMILIES to Honor our Common CLARK ancestor we know of the most since he is the branch to most of us, at least of the Clark Line - Jason S. Clark, buried near the Columbia River on the Washington side at HARTLAND, WA, or better known to the Ones Who Lived and Farmed There as HIGH PRAIRIE ! The location is 12 miles North of LYLE, WA. on the Columbia River, just a bit West of The Dalles, OR. on the River. At High Prairie, or Hartland ( It had a P.O. turn of the former Century) was a small farming community - the warm, friendly type. Nearby, was the Lone Pine Cemetary, yes, CemetAry, it sez, but God Bless the person who painted that sign over the entrance to that Pioneer & Indian cemetery ! I HOPE that nobody EVER changes that sign as it is truly a legacy of the times and of the Love that the People there had for each other. If there WAS friction, it could be mended with Time. There are those Clark Branches follow, including mine, but I will end this List or account here. I tried to furnish Info so that Others seeing this might find a "tie" or even a "clue" in their own Search for those elusive Lines. Thank you for Reading ! 1. [CLARKE] Thomas Clarke
    2. Elspeth Wiltshire
    3. I am looking for the descendants of Thomas Clarke who emigrated to Australia in teh early 1920's. He was born in Glasgow sometime between 1904 - 1910, but after 1910 would have lived in Edinburgh. He was apparently a miner at some point before he emigrated. Once in Australia he married a Scots girl named Sadie and had children (don't know how many), and when she died, he remarried. He may have died in the late 1940's. He was mainly known as Tommy Clarke.

    3. humorously, the only indication i have that pettiford is of black ancestry, is because she was an african american. i know the name is french. i just have yet to track where in my lineage they imported from france.... thank you thank you thank you for the small c large C education.... i didn't realize there would be a difference... 3. That is probably the case...did you know that in the 1840's in Wabash County...east of Edwards that there were flatboats and barges up and down the Wabash to New Orleans, and that at one time there were as many as 40 barges stopped at Rochester Mills about 7 miles south of Mt. Carmel...on any given day? I descend from Elias Clark,M.D. of Wabash County...some of his Children resided in Edwards Co., in Bone Gap and Browns...and Albion. Pettiford is not necessarily an indication of African ancestry...some Welsh and even French have also been known to have darker complexions and dark eyes...Pettiford can certainly be French (or French Creole ),creole....a better indication of her supposed status would be a copy of a document with her signature...large C by her signature would indicate French Creole...small c indicates, in that era, a person of mixed blood sometimes a slave, sometimes not. Whatever, her heritage, she is certainly pleased that someone...is interested in finding out about her...good luck in your search! Let me know if you run across my elusive Elias Clark! 3. Hello Cyrus: I am glad I got your email as I have been wanting to correct some of the data I put on RootsWeb last Jan. I had just received this information and was so happy about the break through on my Clark line that I posted it to share with others before I double checked it. When I started trying to verify this information I realized the data I gave for John Clarke b. Oct. 8, 1609 Westhorpe, Suffolk, Eng.; d. April 20, 1676 Newport, Newport, RI was wrong as he didn't have any children, although he married 3 times (1) Sarah Davis, (2) Jane Fletcher and (3) Elizabeth Harges-Harris who out lived him. I went to searching and found that it was his brother, Joseph Clarke who was the one who had the children that I had given as the children of John Clarke. I have wanted to correct this error for sometime but I am not sure how to go about it. I'll welcome any help you can give me. I would like to see your Clarke/Clark family tree that you mentioned. I have enjoyed working on the Clark family tree but it has sure presented me a lot of brick walls. Eola Wasson Clark

I'm sure his family would have came from Mendon, MA. area as this is where his in-laws came from, the Henry LAWRENCE family. Would you happen to have anything listing a son named Amanson (ver. spellings) ? Thank you for your time to read this and I'm hopeful, Marcie in IN..
