Hi listers, I guess it is time to post again, as it's been awhile. I am seeking information about Jeremiah Clarke who emigrated from County Mayo, Ireland about 1837 with his sons, Darby, Anthony and Martin. I believe they came from Ballykinletteragh in Co. Mayo. I was there this past fall and found some Clarkes who were familiar with the names I was seeking. We spent a very interesting evening chatting with them. The only problem was, they could not seem to remember too much about their ancestors! We visited the cemetery where they were buried and found the same names have been handed down through the family as recently as my father. Jeremiah and family reportedly came to Oswego, New York in 1837, and then on to Buffalo where he died. I am interested in finding a record of death for him or a marriage record for Darby who may have married there or in Waterloo around 1848. Darby's first and only son (as far as I know), John was born in 1849 in Waterloo. All the sons eventually ended up in Wisconsin around 1853. If anyone has any information I would be happy to hear from you. Janet Wisconsin

Geneanet.org is particularly useful if you are searching for information in other than the U.S. I found a 2nd cousin of my mother's who is a historian in France, a veritable mother lode of information on my French maternal lines. Fay Clark

Not likely that your Grandmother Lucy is a near relation of the John Clarke from Northern Ireland that moved to Trinty Newfoundland in the early 1800s'. John married a Susan ,Nee name not known and had one son named Aubrey, perhaps other children also. His son Aubrey married a Mary Stevenson from Hearts delight and they had a large family. They moved to St John's Newfoundland and then in or around 1903 or 1904 moved to Cape breton Island with their family. They settled in North Sydney.
Steven and others researching Clark/Clarke; the following are some useful resource sites to look for connections among the Clarke/Clark lines which others have researched. I find them to be good places to compare data such as birth/marriage/death dates and add possibilities for future research. Good luck in your searches! I keep seeing all these Clarks from NC. Mine was Thomas C. Clark. Born about 1860 in NC. The 1880 census says his parents were from NC but I can't find anything on him except that 1880 census and when he is married to my g grandmother Rebeca Carlil-Carlyle. They married in 1877 and had 7 children. I can't find where Tom went, or Rebeca or any of the children except my grandmother and one sister, Ellen. Rebeca was on the 1900 and 1910 census also. If anyone has anything on any of these, I would love to hear from you. The other children were Mamie, Maggie V., Lois, Fred, Elsa, Ellen, Duskie? and Otto who was born 1899. All in the area of Asheville or Spring Creek. Please help. Have been searching for over 25 years and have gone tromping in the old cemeteries in those areas and can't find anything. Charlotte, this is spooky. I am Charlotte (nee) Clarke! I have a John Burton Clarke b.Jun 1883. He had an earlier brother John B. born b. 1878 d. 1880 - both in New Kent County, Virginia to Robert Dandridge Clarke and his first wife, Laura J. Morgan. Charlotte (Clarke; Hoover) Geier cclark@variety.com wrote my great-gfather JOHN B. CLARK was born in virginia, june 1848. that is all i know about him prior to the 1880 rockcastle co. KY census where he is listed as a "miner" (prob. coal), and married to PERMELIA (Amelia) E. BURTON. they have 3 children listed, margaret 5, mary jane 3 and my paternal gfather BEN (John Benjamin Clark) b. 1879 would like to find where John B. Clark was born in virginia, which of the Clark lines he is from. i do not have a m'd date nor death date. we think he is buried in ward cemetery, laurel/rockcastly co, ky. there is only a metal marker on his grave with initials "IMOPRM." these initials could be an affiliation with Red Men org, but have no proof on that. in 1896, he remarried the widow Rhoda Gentry (Mrs. Logan) Black in KY. (we think Amelia Burton Clark died ca. 1896 but no proof.) any info on this CLARK will be appreciated!!! thanx!!!! charlotte clark ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! I have an interest in Hayday family history too. Mail me Sarahs birthdate and place, I may have it in my records and if so will gladly share any info.
Seeking any information on George CLARK, born abt.1850 to abt.1875 possibly in Iowa or Illinois. Married to Sarah BOSSINGHAM - no data. George had six siblings; Albert, Jack, Benjamin, Ernest, Ada and Maude. George & Sarah(Bossingham) Clark had at least one child; Albert E. Clark, born abt.1890 to abt.1905 possibly in Warren Co.,IA. He married Thelma HOFFMAN, born(?) in Ackworth, Warren Co.,IA. I realize this is very sketchy with a minimum of facts, but I'm hoping someone will recognize this family and make the initial stage of research a little easier. Thanks, Don
