    1. [CLARKE] CLARK in Wisconsin....(was Clarkes from IRELAND to NEWYORK,WISC.)
    2. John Buck, Jr.
    3. Hi.. I found your message to the CLARKE-L during a routine search for the BUCK surname.... and I was interested in the Wisconsin connection that you have. My father's family (BUCK) was from the mid Illinois area... but my mother's family is found in Monroe and Juneau Counties, Wisconsin, which are very close to Salk County.... I was born and raised in Madison (about 50 miles south of Baraboo) and know the area pretty well....... My BRAMAN family married into the CLARK family.... but I don't have any earlier CLARKs than William H. Clark, b. 1853. I don't know where he was born, but many of my BRAMAN and collateral lines came from New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. I do have descendant data for William H. and his family, but, unfortunately, no ancestor data...... If you ever find a William in your Wisconsin family, let me know and we can compare notes! Best wishes. 3. This is just a shot in the dark, but I couldn't help but notice the name Nicholas Clark in SC. I'm wondering if he could be related (maybe a brother?) to my James Clark, born possibly in Beaufort SC. Through another researcher, I received a copy of a typewritten paper he inherited from an old aunt stating that the father of "my" James was Nicholas Clark, a Revolutionary Soldier. I have no documentation or proof & have been hunting this elusive Nicholas for several years. Here is the family of my James Clark: 1. JAMES CLARK was born about February 11, 1788, and died March 21, 1842 in GA. He married ANN "Nancy" HORNE March 29, 1810 in Beaufort District, SC. She was born November 23, 1793, and died December 1872 in GA. Children of JAMES CLARK and ANN HORNE are: 2. i. NICHOLAS J. CLARK, b. 1812; d. 1855. m. He married (1) SUSAN GOULD. He married (2) CAROLINE HODGES October 02, 1845 in Liberty Co. GA 3. ii. JOHN CLARK, b. 1814; d. 1893, GA. He married MARY HAM 4. iii. RICHARD CLARK, b. 1816; d. 1886, GA. He married ESTHER "HETTY" PERRY. 5. iv. WILLIAM CLARK, b. April 28, 1818, GA; d. May 08, 1895, Fleming, GA. He married EDITH "EADY" REBECCA HARN May 1846. She was born August 18, 1828, and died September 16, 1901 in Georgia. 6. v. MARY CLARK, b. 1822. She married JESSE E. HAM 7. vi. SOPHIE CLARK, b. 1824; d. 1886, GA. She married JOHN HARN. He was born 1813, and died 1885. 8. vii. JAMES CLARK, JR., b. 1828; d. 1894. He married MARY ESTHER "HETTY" LANE October 21, 1852 I descend from William Clark & Eady Harn. They had a son also named Nicholas J. Clark, which makes me think it is an old family name. The names James, John, Richard, William & Mary appear throughout the family as well. I can find 2 Nicholas Clarks in the 1790 Beaufort Census & 1 in 1800 (Prince William Parish). By 1810, there are none. The paper I received said that the Clarks were Irish, settled in the Carolinas & at least one went to Mississippi & one to Alabama. If any of this information rings a bell to anyone, please let me know. I have been hunting the parents of James Clark to no avail. Other information in this paper I can't tie to anything....Thomas Clark came in 1620 on the Ann & Little James.....Edward & John Clark (brothers ?) came in 1634 on the Boneventure.....can anyone relate? Thanks, Janet Marietta, GA
