    1. [CLARKE] Re: CLARK
    2. Denise, your message is over a year old so I don't know if you'll even see this. My Grandfather, Raymond Durwood Clark(e) was born in NC around 1895-1900. According to my dad, Raymond Durwood Clark Jr. born in Hawaii, his dad didn't like the "e" on the end of his name, so although born with it, he usually always dropped the "e". Don't know much more except that I am trying to find the NC connection. Any help would be terrific. bwclark@mindspring.com Thanks, Bruce

I don't have much information on Jacob Clark. He was born in 1747 in Wilmington, N.C. He served in the Revolutionary War and was captured and sent to prison in St. Augustine, Fla. While there, he apparently met Sara Stephens. He was returning to N.C., supposedly got sick, and stayed in Camden County, Ga. He married Sara here in 1783. Other records indicate that he was a farmer, canoe maker and shoe maker. He purchased a plantation here and then later sold it. He died in Camden, but I have no records that indicate where he is buried. His widow returned to Fla. and is buried down there. I would like to visit Wilmington and continue my research. I too am very interested in the Clark family history. From checking out other Clark histories, I have a feeling that this family has been in the U.S. for a long time. dmclark@eagnet.com ================== basil greenlee and florence clark From_: PAD2DHN@aol.com Fri Jul 27 20:42:34 2001 A message was posted on may 17,1999 by DENVER CLARK stating that he had their marriage licence and they are my sons grandparents. From_: bookmage@pacbell.net Sat Jul 28 20:28:00 2001 Have learned my gr,gr grandfather was Thomas Clark, born in Ireland but migrated to Us to Kentucky, his father was an Andrew Clark, unknown wife, and Thomas Clark and his unknown wife raised 7 children including my great grandfather James Clark in Ky then Thomas and James Clark migrated to Morgan co. Indiana where they were among the very first settlers, 1820. what I would like is any info on Thomas Clark's siblings and parents in early part ot 1700, maybe mid 1700 as Thomas Clark died in 1833 in Morgan co and was supposedly in his seventies. I know that James Clark was born in 1789 and one of his sibs, Mary Polly Clark was born in 1792 so I suppose more realistically Thomas would have been born maybe in 1770 or so, any info would be hugely appreciated. I do not know where in Ky they lived but was told it was close to Indiana line. Thanks bookmage@pacbell.net ----------------------------

    1. [CLARKE] Chester and Percy Clarke
    2. Chester is my gg-grandfather, was born in Scott, NY in 1849, moved to Alfred NY in 1868 or so, to go to school. He married Ann Ophelia Stillman and took to farming in Nile, NY until about 1898, when he took over his father-in-law's farm. He left the family in 1905, and moved to Binghamton, NY, where he had a shoe repair shop and owned a number of properties (having been a significant stockholder in the Celadon Terra Cotta Company). He died in 1925, and was buried in Chenango Valley Cemetery. Ophelia is buried in Seattle, WA where she had joined her daughter in the 1930s, I believe.

    3. MRS. SEIVER IS FOUND DEAD IN HOME Elderly Resident Passes From Heart Attack As She Rests On Couch; Was Relative of Early Oregon explorer. Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth SEIVER, 79 was found dead in her home at 219 Clay street about 2;30 pm Sunday when Mrs. C. N. BILYEU, mrs. C.E. HOWES and Earle RICHARDSON went there to investigate after becoming alarmed about her. She was lying fully clothed except for her shoes upon the sofa in the living room and apparently had been reading a paper when death overtook her. It was thought that she had passed away sometime Saturday afternoon. Mrs. HOWES had talked with her on the telephone about 1:00 pm Saturday. Vivian RICHARDSON had gone to her home shortly after 5:00pm Saturday when she did not answer a telephone call and found that the screen doors were hooked on the inside but was unable to get a response. Vivian again visited the house about 2:00pm Sunday and reported that the doors were still fastened, a washing still on the line and everything quiet about the house. The search was made following this. Mrs. SEIVER had suffered from a serious heart ailment for some time and a year ago was confined to her bed for several weeks. Her health had been fair for a period of several months. deputy Coroner Paul BOLLMAN was called and took the body in charge. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00pm at the henkle and Bollman chapel with Rev. O.D. HARRIS officiating. Burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery besides other members of her family. Mrs. SEIVER was born at Mendon ILl., on April 8, 1859. She was the youngest of ten children born to John w. GOLDEN and Elizabeth ST. CLAIR. She was related to Captain William CLARK who shared leadership of the LEWIS and CLARK expedition with Meriwether LEWIS. Mrs. SEIVER came to Dallas from the middle west about 40 years ago. She lived for many years at the Clay street home with a sister Mrs. Eliza C. HATON. Mrs. HATTON passed away in February, 1929, and Mrs. SEIVER had since resided there alone. She was a member of the Dallas Christian church and for a number of years sang in the choir. An exceedingly close friendship had developed through the years with Mrs. HOWES. Mrs. SEIVER had a wide circle of friends among the older residents of the city and was held in high regard by her neighbors. An aged and invalid sister, Mrs. Minerva E. LAMB of Ridgefield wn., survives and it is thought that one brother Enoch GOLDEN of Fletcher, Oklahoma, is still living. There are no immediate relatives residing in Dallas.
