So far, I only have 1 sibling for Martha, which is a brother. He is: Amariah RATHMELL, Jr.b. 1800. I do not have any spouse or children for him. I was given this information by a cousin, so I can't go into any further depth, since the research wasn't mine. Best regards, Amy
Hello list, I am still trying to make contact with anyone from the Maine area that could help me. I am trying to find Archibald Clarke who is listed on a Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada death record of Aug.9,1873 as being born in Bath, Maine. At the time of his death he was listed as being 83 years old. I would place his birth at about 1788-1790? I am trying to find Archibalds parents. Can anyone from Maine help? Thank you for your time. Yours truly, Angus Clarke GE.NO@RCN.COM
Am I on the wrong list? I haven't seen any postings from people regarding the name CLARK - only CLARKE. Also, I don't believe I've seen any postings about Southern Clarks/Clarkes. My ancestors were in Anson/Mecklenburg Co., NC and then in York Co., SC, before moving on to Lincoln Co., Tennessee. Sue Howard SueHoward@prodigy.net

The British Family History Society: http://www.rootsweb.com/~bifhsusa/ . It's only $20 to join, and I've only just done so. Haven't yet attended any of their meetings (monthly, in L.A.), but the Queen Mary seminar next month looks really interesting. There's lots of info on their web site and I'm really trying to talk myself into parting with the $175 fee for the three-day event ($195 for non-members, so it pays to join), which includes 2 lunches and a dinner, I believe. Hello all, I have recently joined the list, and wonder if there is anyone researching the following family. I have very sketchy details; Wanting to find out about George Clarke, who was married to Jane Ellen ? in the ??1860's.I haven't been able to find a record of that marriage. Their daughter Henrietta Charlotte Clarke was baptised on the 24th June, 1867, at Woolwich, Kent. She was born on the 6th. April, but there doesn't seem to be a record of her birth anywhere so far. George was a 2nd. Fireworker , 16th Brigade Royal Artillery. He might have been away with the army when Henrietta was born, so she could have been born elsewhere, India, Ireland etc., or on a ship??? George later went to India, where he was a sgt, Govt. Railway Police, Assenole, in 1881 to ???The trail stops there for me. Hope someone can put me on the right track again. Many thanks, Jill Glover

My great great great grandparents, Robert +Henrietta Maria Gray Clarke, came to Alabama from Chesterfield Co Virginia in early 1830s. Don't know if Woodmont belongs to the Clarke's or the Gray's. Thanks, Deborah Clarke Hollingsworth from Mobile, Alabama (the Clarke's came, I think, to Marengo Co. Hi Clark cousins, I have recently gotten several deeds from Garrard Co.KY for various Clarks. For Clarks on Sugar Creek, I have, John and Milly Clark, Joseph Clark,John Clark & William Clark. John and Milly (Amelia) Clark sold land to: Elbert Halcomb in 1808, Clark, Eliz. & Halcomb, Elbert S.married Nov 02 1798 In 1822 William Clark leaves property to his parents John and Milly Clark and to his wife Sarah in his will. Clark, William married Crawford, Sarah Oct 22 1801 Garrard Co.KY. In 1797 John and Milly Clark sell land to William Ellis on Sugar Creek. In a deed for (1799) James Clark and wife Luckey (Susannah) the L on Luckey looks like an S, but comparing letters it matches the L on the word Leagul (legal). James and Luckey are heirs of William and John Ellis, other heirs are: Reuben W Danniel and wife Pheba, John Ellis, William Ellis, sons of John Ellis desc. William Ellis son of William Ellis, and Charles Thomas and late wife Polly Ellis dec. This deed is for land on Gilberts and Drakes Creeks in Garrard and Lincoln Cos. they are selling land to Walker Baylor. Then to tie in the Daniel/Danniel and Clark names again: there are two deeds (1813) from Robert and Martin Daniel to William Clark for land in Garrard, lot and courthouse Danville and 150 acres Big Barren R Warren Co. in this deed William Clark is called their nephew. Then Nov.27,1795 Walker Daniel deeded land to John Clark, his brother-in-law on Sugar Creek, Madison Co./Garrard Co.KY. Then for my Joseph Clark that I STILL can't prove the parentage! The only marriage I can find for a Joseph is: Bayless (Boyles), Polly Clark, Joseph Oct 03 1798 My Joseph lived on Sugar Creek Madison/Garrard Cos. KY, he didn't list a wife on any deed until he remarried in IN in 1835! Family history says he married a Hyatt lady. Joseph sold land on Sugar Creek in 1814 to Rueben Hiatt, his neighbors on another deed in 1814 to Elijah Williams, were Hiatt, Gibbs and Poe. Rueben Hiatt was son of William and a grandson of Wilson Hiatt in my Clark line I have the given names of Rueben, Wilson, Ellis, Lucy, James, William. In Ripley Co. IN there was a church record of Joseph, Elizabeth, and Lucy Clark and as Joseph didn't have a daughter named Elizabeth, I am presuming that Elizabeth is the Hiatt lady although no marriage record has been found. In previous emails I have shown where people say my Joseph is the son of Catherine or Elinor Clark of NC. They were sisters both with sons named Joseph in Garrard Co. at the same time my Joseph was. One of those Josephs went to Warren Co.TN.and so did many of Elinors children. These Clarks lived on Paint Lick Creek. Does anyone have an opinion or can you offer any ideas of where I might turn? I have deeds, wills, marriage bonds and POA's and the only things I have as concrete evidence of my Joseph is his deed from IN Territory selling land in Garrard Co. His son Joshua and wife Jane Sanders heirs in Henry Wooley's will, and estate settlement. Joseph was one of the original settlers in Ripley Co.IN and was a deacon of the church. Thanks for reading all of this! Marilyn Merritt
