Just posting this one more time to see if anybody has any info on these Clarkes. My GGgrandfather was Albert Thomas Clarke b. ca. 1850 in New Kent County, Va. He went by Tom, from what I've been able to determine. He was the son of Benjamin M. (could be Munford) Clarke and Jane? or Sarah? Benjamin's wife appears as different names on different records. Benjamin Clarke appears to have been the son of Albert Clarke. On one census record, Tom Clarke's name appears as Albert B., but his marriage record gives his name as Albert T. He married first Isabella Craddock Adams, a young widow, and married twice more after her death. He fathered numerous children including my great-grandmother, Emma Jane Clarke Kidd. I'd like to find the parents of Albert Clarke and the names of the wives of the Clarke men. They all lived in the New Kent/Charles City area from what I can determine. I have a Clark line also, but I have even less on this one. I have a GGgrandfather, Samuel Lewis, who married a female Clark probably in either Richmond, Va., or Chesterfield County and they lived in the south Richmond (Manchester) area. That's all I have on that one! If any of this rings bells with anyone, please let me know. Thanks, Dianne Walsh

Apparently, somebody just misspelled the word "list" - got the letters in the wrong order, that's all. ----- Original Message ----- From: <MAKientz@aol.com> To: <CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2001 10:35 AM Subject: Re: [CLARKE] Wrong lsit > I am wondering what an Isit is - a family name?? > > Marge > > > ==== CLARKE Mailing List ==== > CLARKE Resources at RootsWeb > http://resources.rootsweb.com/~clusters/surnames/c/l/CLARKE/ > List Manager's address CLARKE-admin@rootsweb.com >

In a message dated 01-08-01 05:16:58 EDT, you write: << Subj: [CLARKE] John Clark born about 1630 Isle of Wight County, VA Date: 01-08-01 05:16:58 EDT From: elaine_dee@hotmail.com (Elaine Dee) Reply-to: CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com To: CLARKE-L@rootsweb.com I am seeking info on the following line of Clarks: John Clark born about 1630 in Isle of Wight County, VA to Humphrey Clark and Jane ??, married to Mary Flake born about 1635 in Isle of Wight County. Humphrey was born about 1610 in Isle of Wight England. Jane was born before 1615 in Isle of Wight England. Thanks in advance for any and all help with this line of Clarks, Lainee Denton http://www.genealogy.com/users/d/e/n/Elaine-Denton/ http://www.angelfire.com/tn2/GrannysPlace (new genealogy page, more files) >> Dear Lainee, I don't know if we have communicated before or not but I think that it is possible that my Robert CLARK/CLARKE/CLERKE, born: 1688 in Edgecombe, NC, md: Jean ?, might, possibly, be descended from the aforementioned John CLARK and Mary FLAKE from early 1600's Isle of Wight Co., VA.. His daughter, Hannah CLARK/CLARKE/CLERKE, married Jacob UNDERWOOD, (son of Thomas 2 UNDERWOOD, son of Thomas 1 UNDERWOOD,) and their daughter, Sarah "Sally" UNDERWOOD, married Lewis Lamkin/Lampkin HATTEN, and their son, William HATTEN/HATTON who was born 1800 in Tar River, Nash Co., NC, who descends from John HATTON who arrived in Jamestowne, VA in 1613. The family built and owned ships in the Norfolk area for a long time. William HATTEN/HATTON married Frances Lucretia "Patsy" LOTT, born: abt. 1802 in AL, who was the daughter of Martha Jane Dorsey? LIGHTFOOT, born: abt. 1763, and husband, Absalom LOTT, born: abt. 1758, son or grandson of John (2) LOTT, (son of John (1) LOTT, thought born: abt. 1680 in Isle of Wight Co., VA,) and his wife, Elizabeth JOYNER, born: 1720 in Isle of Wight Co., VA, (daughter of Elizabeth BROWNE and John JOYNER, (son of Bridgeman JOYNER, Sr. and Ann HARRIS, (daughter of Ann TOMLIN or Ann MARTIN and her husband, Thomas (1) HARRIS, (son of Thomas (2) HARRIS and Alice WEST.) There lots of other lines that I have going back to Isle of Wight Co., VA as well that weave in and out of these families including my MYRICK lineage and the JORDAN's, etc.. Do you have any information regarding that possibility? Bellinda
