Hi... Thanks for the KY postings... ========================================= --------------------------snip ELIJAH CLARK LAUREL COUNTY PRIVATE MARYLAND MILITIA $29.00 ANNUAL ALLOWANCE $60.00 AMOUNT RECEIVED APRIL 25, ?1824? PENSION STARTED AGE 81 --------------------------snip I notice you have ?1824? as the date. I assume that these postings refer to the possible last payment (death date?) of the pensioneer and when last payment was made and age when he started receiving them and how much (or calculate for how long he recieved them). From this data we can calculate his approx birth year? [If we use 1824 as his death year and age 84 (81 plus 3 years worth of pensions) that would put his birth as approx 1740] In any case, the above Elijah appears to be the same as in my data base Married 28 Jul 1780 in Montgomery Co., MD to Mary GRAVES. That would put his birth year before 1760 or so, if she was his first wife... Does this help you to decipher the date? Could 1824 be a later date? Are the listings in chronological order? =================================== -----------------snip THOMAS CLARK FAYETTE COUNTY SERGEANT 1ST REGIMENT U. S. Dear Andrea, Your names, dates and places are so close to mine that I do not wish to pass up an opportunity to respond to your message and connect with you in some way. My Father was: William Albert Clark, b:23 June 1908, Worcester, MA. His Parents were: William Alexander Clark, b: Feb 1877, Merritton, St. Catharine's area, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada; and Mary Cecelia Doyle, b:Nov 1874, Worcester, MA. I have been seeking information on my Grandfather's Parents supposedly: "Alexander Clark & Mary Boyde". Of ? Scots origin. I do not have the siblings of my Grandfather: Wm. Alexander Clark and no records on him nor his Parents. Do know that he emigrated from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada to Buffalo, Erie Co. NY on the NY Central Railroad on 1 April 1879. After 30 years of no data...I found him working in Cape Cod, MA..in 1907...and married in Buffalo, 8 May 1907..then lived in Worcester, MA. Witnesses at their wedding: John Clark and Lillian Biden... By 1920 , My Father and his Parents were in Waterbury, CT..per CT Census. I have wondered whether my Grandfather: Wm. Alexander Clark..had a brother John and a brother Francis or Frank Clark as I did find a Frank in Waterbury, CT. After Waterbury, CT. my trio went to Milford, New Haven County, CT. I spend 6 months in Florida, my home since retirement; and 6 months in Nova Scotia, Canada. I have also been looking for McNeil Families in this area of Canada. Mostly for someone else. There are some in Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia. Do you know where your Albert Wm Clarke and Flora MacNeil were married and lived? Do you have anything further on your grt=grt grandparents and their Parents? Are any of my names and places familiar to you? Are you sure that your marriages were in MA? Only from the recesses of my mind I remember reading about a man, I thought it was an "Albert Clark" who was married to someone on the West Coast of US..California or so..who left his family and ended up with someone else. ...Do not know whether anyone found him or not. Don't hold me to that...but..gets me thinking about it again. In any case, keep in touch...maybe we are closer than we know. Another thought I just had...my Grandfather : Wm. Alexander Clark...would have been about 31 years old when my Father was born. I do NOT know whether my Grandfather was married before he married: Mary Cecelia Doyle. on 8 May 1907. I do know that after my Grandmother died: ca Jan. 1930 in Milford, CT. , my Grandfather married again around Nov 1931..to Grace Dorothy( Edwards,) Ober. a widow with 2 grown sons, Milton and Raynold OBER. Well, maybe somewhere we can connect...Keep in touch.
