I have Clarks from Indiana and Mo. The only Lewis Clark's I find are much later. I do find a Martha Dodson married to Benjamin Clark in Fayette Co, In 1857. I don't yet know how they connect with my Clarks from same area. Try Fayette, Hancock and Henry Co, IN. You may find a connection. It's been a long time since I posted my interests, so I thought I'd have another go. My Clark ancestors (Clarke if you read the accounts of the time, Clark from the certificates and registers) were from Hull, Yorkshire and possibly from Scotland before that - still tryin to prove the link. They were in the whaling trade (from the early 1880's at least). Anyone out there with any whaling blood in them, or connections to Hull that might link up. It's sad when as a genealogist one's own father's line proves the most unfruitful and difficult branch (my mother's side and my wife's mother's side are now back to early 1500's!).
