I have a Lakey or Lotsey Clarke born about 1839 to Martha Raynor Pumphry and Dandridge West Clarke. I have this name listed as female, but do not know anything more about (her) history and have no death date. Also, this child is marked as being born in New Kent County, Virginia. This is such an unusual name that I wonder if there might be any kind of connection? My great grandfather John Marion Clark was born in Virginia, December 12, 1829. He married Delina Brinegar July 11, 1852. They came to DeKalb, Texas in 1872. They then moved to Cass County Texas, then moved back to DeKalb, Texas around 1880. I have lots of information about John Marion Clark's family down to present time. According to the Va. census 1850 Washington County Virginia, there is a David Clark that might be John Marion's father. I was told that he was born in Marion, Va. and the age seems to fit. This is as far back as I have been able to get. Any help will be appreciated. Mary Clark Click

Compulsive Genealogy Searcher, ARLT, CLARK, COSTELLO, COVERT, FALANGA, GUIDETTI, HIGGINS, KONEN, PARISI, RIDER, TOMPKINS, Van AUKEN & WAGNER -------------------snip From: [email protected] (Wing, Kathryn) Dear Joseph, I have no information on James Clark, son of William Clark and Mary ?, other than that contained in William's will (copy below). I have seen two different father's listed for James Clark who married Hannah Pickens -- William Clark and James Clark. I would be most interested if you have absolute proof that this James Clark was the son of a William and not James. You may also want to consider the brothers of William Clark (husband of Mary above) -- they are also named in William's will -- Joseph and James. I believe all three brothers were born about 1720-30 and came out of South Carolina -- have no idea if they were born there or in England / Scotland. I have no information other than their names. Suggestions that they were born in North Carolina are probably incorrect as the Alexanders were some of the earliest settlers of North Carolina and they didn't arrive until late 1740s. Good luck -- I've tried to tie your James Clark to my family for some time now. If I find anything, I'll send it along -- hope you will do the same. Hi Joe, In this msg I noticed under I. A.(Alexander Clark), 1.(Gilbert 15880) d:8 Oct 1798; and his son: l. i. : Gilbert Jr, also died: 8 Oct 1798. Question: were they together in some incident when they died or is this a mis- read or mis-type? You may recall that I am researching Alexander Clark and Mary Boyde, my great-grantparents. a brick wall! At one time, I heard that an Alexander Clark family from "North or South Carolina" may have become United Empire Loyalist and came to Nova Scotia, Canada and then to New Brunswick, Can. and perhaps further west later. The other day in a message you mentioned an Alexander Clark? who may have gone to New Brunswick and raised a second family? Do you have any information on this particular family who may have removed to New Brunswick, Can.? Thank you. Barb Clark Joseph A Arlt wrote: > Here's the other line I mention...
