    2. Hi: Although they sailed from Dublin, Ireland, and not England, I do have ggrandparents John and Mary Clarke, who left Dublin in 1833 for Canada. I have no record of any siblings but my grandfather, Daniel Marron Clarke, was born at sea on April 25, l833, a surviving twin, and named Marron for the captain of the ship. Considering the large families my Clarks have had, I would be surprised if Daniel Marron was an only child. My John and Mary settled first in Peterborough, Ontario and later were in Durham and Simcoe Counties. Could we have a connection? Let me know, Jeanne

    3. Sorry for butting in here but I'm just starting to look for my g-g-grandfather, William Clarke, who reportedly came to Canada from Suffolk. Is this too common a name to pin down easily? I have nothing on him except that he was probably born around 1790-1800, came to Canada around 1825-30, married a widow at Prince Edward Island and this is as much as I have gotten on him. After that we unfold well, but I have to do more at PEI to find William. Anyone knowing anything about researching Suffolk, England, who can help would be appreciated. 3. okay, let's see what happens. Here is the problem Moses Clarke/Mary Barber. In my records I have Mary Barber married to Moses Clarke, parents of Ruth Clarke brn.1797 married to George Washington Potter, Ruth being the mother of Mary Ann Potter. I have parents of Moses Clarke to be Moses Clarke and Abbey. Yesterday, after several Clarke Family Genealogy books, I have parents of Moses,(the second Moses) to be Thomas Clarke and Abigail Reynolds. or could it be Thomas Clarke and Bridget Barber? but then again possibly John Clarke and Judith Brown parents of Ruth Clarke? the date is right. I think the problem is too many Ruths and too many Moses. HELP! _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

    3. I spent the day at the Rhode Island Historical Society library and am now more confused than ever. The information I received was this:Ruth Clarke was born Oct.17,1797 and died April 6, 1900. She married George Washington Potter Sept. ,1827 and was the mother of Mary Ann Potter. She was the daughter of Moses Clark and Mary Barber. After reading several Clarke and Barber genealogies, I'm not sure what;'s what or who's who. I found no record of this lineage but did discover that Moses Clarks"s parents who I thougt were Moses Clark and Abby. may be Thomas Clark and abby (Cottrell) Reynolds. Ruth's father may be John Clarke hr mother Priscilla (Head) Brown. There are too many Ruths to go around. Does anyone know who'w who? Will the real Ruth Clarke, wife of George Washington Potter, please stand up! _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
