How would one find if an ancestor did indeed belong to a clan, and what would the benefit have been in 1890-1920 Scotland? Also, Where could I research to see how NESBIT came under the protection or alliance of HUME, and the same with INGLIS with DOUGLAS clan. Thank you Marcia Moore Collins
