Hi Joe and Jill. Thanks for my query on Clan KENNETH. We have traced our surname KENNETH ancestors back to 1780, or so, finding them at that time in the Perth area. We fantasize about tracing their origins back into the western highlands, where the 'MacKenzie's' are historically found. Somewhere, there is a link, or explanation, why the Kenneths are not named MacKenzie. Knowing that patronimics and other irregular naming practices abound, based on todays naming standards, it is unlikely that we will ever have anything but speculation... but I'd settle for that. In his book "Clans, Septs, and Regiments of the Scottish Highlands", Frank Adams lists Clan Kenneth, and as the forerunner of Clan MacKenzie. Unfortunately, he did not list his source, and Frank has now passed away. So I continue to dig. The internet has wonderful potential potential for problems such as mine, as the exposure is so wide. Anyway, thanks again for the reply and the interesting information. Yours aye, Bill PS I am posting a reply on the Clan web, as perhaps others out there might take notice. Excuse me for not replying directly to each of you, Jill and Joe.
