    3. Flax weaving - 1718 Boston to Casco Bay, ME to Londonderry NH I know that it was this group of emigrants that introduced linen weaving to New England. It soon became popular with the ladies in Boston. What I do not understand it the process itself. Starting with the growing the flax, right up to the gorgeous material. Can anyone help me understand the process. How is it done? What is a bleacher of cotton, a linen draper, a tailor. Are they the same? Pat Gregg PS please post any info on the list for all to participate.

    2. Hello all, I've no idea of the accuracy of data contained on the following web sites but there have been a couple of questions regarding this information of late. If nothing more perhaps these will serve as starting points for locating the knowledge sought. Good luck, at any rate, Ada R. (McFaul) Amos For information on clans and septs, information can be found online at: The Gathering of The Clans http://www.tartans.com/index.html Wrapping and wearing a kilt is explained at: Tartan Web http://www.scottish-selection.com/tweb/greatkilt/index.htm If anything is found to be inaccurate please let the rest of us know about it. Thanks.

There are many lists which are dedicated only to genealogy. The main reason I started this list was to provide a forum for discussion of all sorts of topics relating to Scottish clans which wouldn't have been welcome on other lists because the queries are not pure genealogy. SO POST AWAY! This list is about enriching our understanding of the clan society and how we preserve that heritage today. Cheers, Joseph Broom List Manager

    1. [CLANS-L] Ladies Kilts
    2. Dear Friends, I know this may be a little off the genealogy subject, but I have a kilt question. Now, I know that ladies wearing kilts is not the familiar tradition, however, I have noticed that many online kilt makers make kilts and or tartan skirts for ladies. My question is, does the lady wear the tartan of her own family or that of the husband if she is married? What does the new tradition say? Sincerely, Dave King
