The following communication is from the administrator of the R-U198 DNA Project, John Sloan. I think you’ll agree it’s quite the bombshell! All congratulations to John, who has worked on this line for years. Jeri Ann Boyd We have today posted an announcement of our recent discovery linking the noble Boyd line to our extensive R-U198 (R-FGC12774) Boyd family: https://boyddna.wordpress.com/ We believe this discovery to be a major breakthrough in our ongoing Boyd YDNA research and we would like to thank all those who have participated in our work and supported us over the years. This is an important stage on our journey and I look forward to making further progress as new members of this extensive Boyd family test in future. Sent from my iPad
Jeri Ann Hopefully Colin Brooks from the new Clanboyd list on groups.io will pick this up and advise that group as well. The fourth Earl only had four known children, four sons. The eldest William Boyd, died before 1726; James Boyd, was born about 1724, and in 1758, became the 15th Earl of Erroll, and changed his name to HAY. This branch did not change their name back to BOYD until 1941 and became the Baron of Kilmarnock. [6th Baron, I think, without looking?] Then you have the twins, Charles Boyd and William Boyd born in 1726. Charles Boyd did may twice, and had a boy and a girl form the second marriage, but he second William did not marry. Mike Boyd Brisbane, Aust.
